i THINK
we should make a huge stink about this.

THX.
The article mentioned the local races. There is a Federal absentee ballot available that all the states have to accept but only applies to Presidential, senate and congressional races.
Maybe this is whacko Nader's plan to have maximum impact in favor of the Socialists.
This time frame thing has been eating at me for over 25 years now. The time frame to get on the ballot is way too close to the actual elections and this practice has to stop. The end result is our men and women who are fighting to keep our freedom and voting rights are being shut out and that is totally unacceptable. Move the damned time frame to make it on the ballots up at least 60 days and end this crap for good. Grrrrrrrrrrr this makes me mad!!!!
My Reply:
You know there are so many things about this article that tick me off. But you wrote about the time frame so I will address that.
It is pure bunk. The military could find a way to get these ballots to the soldier and back to the states in well a nick of time.
The ballots should have been printed and mailed, knowing that Iraq is still lagging in the mail system. It has improved, but, that is not the gamble that should be taken.
These men and women deserve to vote. Folks should be standing outside the court, the state election office where ever their voice can be heard.
I do not know what to do Bill, but we have just about a month to make their votes count so lets put our heads together and do something.
To my Freeper friends:
I have been pushing for him to sign on to FR, cuz he has so much to contribute. His wisdom and knowledge from the Vietnam War really put many current events into perspective. Perhaps in your reply you can also extend Bill an invite to share his thoughts on FR. I offered him the name GOP Stud Muffin but I do not think he is buying that one. (evil grin)
As pointed out, there are several gains for the demo's in blocking Nader: Bad press (Aginst Bush, of course, since the demo's role in never explained!), remove other lib. candidates from the ballot, delay (conservative) military ballots, ....
And, finally, set up vote fraud complaints later.
Could we get a member of Congress interested in this, maybe someone like McCain that could introduce some sort of Federal legislation that require states to insure that military ballots are sent out in time and returned expeditiously.
American soldiers like any other American have the right to vote if they choose to and should not have to worry about ballots getting to them in time!
If I were this man, I'd be tempted to go by my middle name instead of my first.
Needless to say, I am Outraged.
