It is a shame that the U.S. House of Representatives failed to approve a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.
The House voted 227-186 against the amendment Thursday. The vote was mostly along party lines. A two-thirds majority was needed for approval.
One would have thought that this amendment would have had a better chance of passing after a year of rulings by judges with personal agendas.
This battle is far from over.
This is only the beginning, Im telling you, said House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas. Marriage is the basic unit of society, the very DNA of civilization, and if that civilization is to endure, marriage must be protected.
Even if it passed the House, it would have had little or no chance of passing in the almost evenly divided Senate.
But we must stay on track and keep on fighting for this crucial issue. Future generations deserve to have traditional marriage protected.
For now, it appears that it will be up to the states to define marriage as between a man and a woman. Kentucky has such a constitutional amendment on its ballot in November and it is expected to pass with landslide support.
Thirty-eight other states have laws on the books banning gay marriages. Ten more could have them by this November.
We are glad that states are attempting to pass these laws, but they will likely be challenged by gay proponents everywhere.
What is to keep a judge from overturning state law? It has already been done in Massachusetts.
This is why we need a federal constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, which the majority of Americans view as out of the mainstream.
Lets face it, we are in a cultural war between those who want us to turn a blind eye from what is morally and traditionally right.
We must not relent, because this attack on traditional marriage is far too important.
It wasn't the "House" that failed America. It was the Democrat minority.
The REPS KNEW they didn't have the votes. The vote is rhetorical and will be used to defeat the "NAY" saying encumbants up for relection. There is a need to distribute some religion on this matter. Sort of like the Dems are now afraid to go against the NRA because some of there fellow RATs were creamed on the gun issues
I read somewhere that gay relationships last between 1-2 years, and hetero marriages last over 7.
I hear people like John Kerry espouse the rights of the gays, "love is love". It's more like "lust is lust". Men cheat on their women all the time, which is too bad, but TWO men in ONE relationship? Most of time, won't work, too busy cheating on each other.
And John Kerry, his support of gay marriage is another reason he HATES this country. Last night he said he loved it. Bullcrap!!! He HATES what is currently represents, but loves his idea of what he can turn it into (bed-buddies with France, gay marriage, bible burning). But you know what his very first act will be? Shutting up the Swift Boat Vets and Burning their book.

According to a site I posted a few days ago, there were around 20 Democrats who were planning to vote for the amendment. That means approximately 207 Repubs voted for it. That leaves around 23 or so Repubs who voted against the amendment. Those RINOs need to be replaced with genuine Republicans. I know my numbers are just an educated guess at the true numbers, and the actual breakdown may be much different.
Of course, even if all 230 Pubs and 20 or 25 Dems had voted for the amendment it would have still come up 35-40 votes short. I'm afraid the amendment won't be taken seriously by Congress until those state constitutional amendments that have recently been enacted, and the ones which will pass next month, start being shot down by activist federal courts. I don't believe Congress can long ignore something that almost 3/4 of the American people want when enough of those people get angry.
Exactly! And make sure you tell all of your friends and neighbors who to vote for this election season!
Its was 227 in favor yea's
The Democrats have put themselves on record as being opposed to where 80% of the American people are in banning gay marriage.
Michael Savage read a fairly long list of RINO's who voted against the bill, which means that quite a few Dems must have voted for it. One of those who voted against it, if I heard right, was the Washington rep who is running for the Senate this year.
