Why are you assuming the poster is a man because they think girls are cute? Maybe....Max is a thesbian.

Max: People always think I am a guy because of my screen name.

Don't pick on me, I'm a minority. Evidently a minority of one on this thread.

Do you believe a particular position is strengthened merely because it is shared by a majority?

Ah, finally this great question might bring some worthy dialog!

It depends on if I am in the majority or not. :)

That's the kind of conviction I like to see from America's next generation of leaders. You could probably parse a verb better than Ol' Slick Willy. Make 'em proud, boy!

Maybe, but I have better taste in women than him. :)

Then I guess my friends don't have real jobs either since they work in retail.

feinswinesuksass:The best encounter I had was with 2 girls my age who were also College Republicans; I always like to come up to customers who are wearing Republican and/or Bush buttons or stickers and tell them how much I appreciate it that they're voting for Bush. This election is going to be the first presidental election that I'll ever vote for, and I'm looking forward to voting for Bush.

These two are Hollywood's favorite satirists. Just ask Robert Redford, he luvs 'em

I think they're great! It's one of the few shows I, my kids and grandkids enjoy together. Loved their attack on Rob Reiner the cigarette nazi!!!

I want to see it, O.C.

I'm hardly anti-war. I want to see it because I grew up watching Gerry Anderson's Super-Marionation shows (Thunderbirds, SuperCar, Fireball XL-5 and Stingray) I want to see the characters and their strings. The jokes, voices and comedy all look Kick A$$ too!

Jack.

I love stuff like this... I must be an anarchist, not a conservative, because I just LOVE these "meetings of the minds" where the gulf is so wide that nobody can find common ground and the debate deteriorates into an argument which deteriorates into a fight which (with any luck) deteriorates into a war. Reinforces my faith in humanity...

Anyway... I have an Important Question. I'm not sure I can even articulate it coherently, but it's something that's been bugging me for some time, and this type of thread in particular provides a good forum in which to ask it...

To what extent does one have to subscribe to an orthodoxy to become a member of a group?

There's no question that SP is crude, vulgar, and offensive, and deliberately so, and that that's why a lot of us like it. There's also no question that crude, vulgar, and offensive stuff is *traditionally* deprecated by "conservatives".

What Crackercrumbs is claiming, whether he realizes it or not, is that if you don't conform to the conventions of a "polite" society which abjures crudeness, vulgarity, and offensiveness, you aren't a conservative.

Can you still be a Muslim if you don't believe in killing anyone who won't convert? The directive to do so, is in the scriptures, isn't it?

How are the boundaries of orthodoxy and membership defined? Is it possible for them to change? How do we know when they've changed?

I rarely go to the movies. I think the last one was Master and Commander. I'll definitely go see this one.

I can't set the bounds for what passes for conservative thought in America. You can call yourself Conservative, Liberal, Moderate, whatever suits you, I really don't care. I was just judging the content of one small piece of popular culture in America. South Park belongs in the same box of hammers with work from folks like Andres Serrano, Oliver Stone and Dan Brown, to name just a few.
