I'm sure the kids disappointed they won't have a chance to play for the President will be very happy they weren't "divisive." Meanwhile, the article says two other schools jumped at the chance.
They can't play for the President, that is just sad. It would have been something they would have remembered for the rest of their lives.
To bad some democRAT stopped it. I hope that never happens to one of my kids. Rep/dem I would hope my child would be able to play.

The superintendent is a liberal twit.
It's partisanship by the school superintendent masquerading (thinly veiled) as fairness and robbing the band of a great opportunity - for a great President.
I would not want my kids playing for Carter or Clinton at any time, but especially during an election.
no wonder- I searched by "Allentown"
no soup for me.
Actually it's more likely the band director's call.
I understand. It's terribly important for a high school band to remain neutral, and not give the appearance of partiality...
Look at the headlines and the sources. please...
Excused! This topic needs as much bandwidth as we can give it!
Wow,,, If you can't do, Teach
If you can't teach, become an administrator
When all else fails, go political.
This superintendent is a politically motivated non-teaching moron who just figuratively smacked everyone in the band.
Honest & educated teachers are forced to work for jerks like this. Unbelievable.
The poll is 67% the band should have played v. 33% they shouldn't.
Lemme guess, they're a liberal school. There's no neutrality in this election. Instead of a once in a lifetime learning experience, the students were taught to be disrepectful and to hide out at home.
Right you are---
When I was in the SMU Mustang band we played for President Nixson. I am still very proud of that evening.
Yes, it is a public institution, and playing for a public official. I would not want to play for Clinton or Carter either, but I would guess a kid that age, does not care about politics or who the president is, but the honor of playing for any president would be something to remember forever. Not only that, but I would guess there should not be any kids playing for a president on inaguration day. That would be taking a side. This is obsurd.
True. I've never met a superintendent that wasn't a total jerk.
