Put the photo you want to post in the CD drive of your computer. You may have to trim it to fit and create a hole in the middle so it sits flat. Close your CD drive.
Now use your mouse to drag the CD icon onto FreeRepublic.
You should be done and we'll all have a chance to see it.

"www.fotki.com is nice and only 30 bucks a year"
This is cheaper (free). Doesn't offer much in the way of extra services, but it allows you to upload an unlimited number of photos (and they show up perfectly). No advertisements in the place of the images like with Tripod, etc.

Find a picture you want somewhere on the internet. If it's a naughty one, don't put it on FR.
Right click on the picture and click on Properties.
Highlight the address and press Control C. (Both CTRL and C at the same time) This places the address (call the URL) in your clipboard.
Go to the Post Reply box in Free Republic. Type any text you want. Where you want the pic, type [img src="xxx"] only use < and > instead of [ and ] and replace the xxx with the address you copied. You can paste the address there by pressing CTRL V.
If you have done it right it'll look something like this:
Always use the Preview button before posting!!!!

I better explain more:
Copy this entire line
<img src=http://www.THE_IMAGE_URL_GOES_HERE>
And don't forget, use the entire URL, like make sure it includes the image file type, like .jpg or whatever at the end.
So for example, the FR logo on the FR home page would look like this
<img src=http://www.freerepublic.com/images/frlogo.gif>
And it would give you this:

Even I can use it, and that way, you aren't stealing band-width. At "photobucket.com" and "photoisland.com" they give it to you.
How is that stealing?
