The debate had little enough in common with the Lincoln-Douglas debates, to be sure, but it represented a credit to the nation all the same, offering voters a clean choice.

Both candidates did the nation good last night. Finally a discussion of serious stuff.

The choice is clear. Shoot the undecideds.

We have long known that Jean-Fraude is the more polished platform debater.

If we look at what each has DONE - not just SAID - W wins hands down. Kerry served himself (by cutting-and-running), not his country, in Nam; W has done an excellent job in managing the unprecedented 9/11 (and after) events.

The debate revolved around Iraq, which is not good for the president.

Of course it did. Because the Leftist moderator kept it focused on Iraq. Virtually each of his questions, particularly with regards to Iraq, was a pointed attack on Bush (akin to asking someone, "Are you still beating your wife?").

The media coverage will play to Kerry, giving him a win. No surprise there, but the harm is that the average sheep will take the MSM's word: G.W. Bush is in trouble after this train wreck. Let's at least be honest.

This election could have been lost, last night. I'm down to hoping Hillary's October Surprise is devastating to Kerry. I just can't see the Clintons allowing Kerry to win this one. Otherwise, hunker down and prepare for the worst.

I was unhappy with Pres. Bush's preformance last night.
After sleeping on it, (fitfully at best) I have a slightly different perspective.
The Pres. came across as sincere, kind and concerned with the best interests of the Iraqi people.

But I think he made one glaring mistake.

IMHO, he let Kerry get away with portraying himself as hawkish, pro-military and decisive.
A simple recounting of Kerry's voting record would have stopped that in its tracks.

OTOH, If I had been up ther in front of 50+ million viewers, I would have.. errr... peed my pants and forgot my name.

The last panelist had it right. This was a Fox/Hedgehog debate. I happen to like Hedgehogs, especially in our current climate.

Our enemy is determine to distract and divide, to paralyse the West and make it impossible for us to continue the war against Islamic imperialism (AKA The War on Terror). In this situation, the Fox is a disaster, because he will never stick with the program long enough to win.

Despite Kerry's protestations to the contrary, we know he will cut and run in Iraq. He's done it before. He will do it again.

Bush came across badly... and I feel bad for saying so. I saw what I saw... I was almost dumbfounded. I dunno... maybe it's me... I... I... I'm sorry.

It's almost as if they put a 'stupid' filter on the lens of the camera when they aimed it toward him.

To say I was disappointed is an understatement.I fear what this will do to him.

I know that Kerry will get rave reviews for Bush's 90 minute flop... and it's killing me.

I have to say John Kerry came off a lot better than I expected he would. Weeks of seeing news clips of Kerry at stump speeches left me with the impression we'd see a monotone, dull as dirt, and platitudinous lefty elitist.

I believe he is all those things, he just did a very good job pretending he's not.

He also knew the biggest obstacle he had to overcome was the impression that he'd be soft of terrorism and weak on defense. Sad to say, I think last night's performance will probably fool some people into thinking he's not. He spoke well and looked acceptable on defense. Too bad he's lying. Many people won't know that.

President Bush seems to always weigh his words before speaking to the press. Probably because he feels they are waiting to pounce on any mispronunciation to belittle him.

Personally, I think Kerry should be nominated for an Emmy. Just like all the liberal Hollywood crowd, he knows how to perform. All talk and no substance.

Bush could have put him away on so many issues.

Kerry trashed the coalition of Asian nations with the USA working to contain Korea... Bush let him go on that.

Kerry said his VOTE against the 187 billion supplemental was a mistaken way to TALK about the war... Bush failed to mention that SENATE VOTES are not just TALK. Bush let him go on that.

Bush let him go on his 20 year anti-military, anti-USA voting record in the Senate. This was a foreign policy debate. A 20 year voting record is an important foreign-policy predictor. Bush let him go on that.

We all laughed when Kerry changed his campaign team several times.

Bush should have been doing the same.

There are obviously Bush advisors who should have been fired long ago.

This was not a true debate. This was a series of short speeches. Bush's advisors didn't send him him with any good short speeches. Kerry's advisors sent Kerry in with a lot of good (lying) short speeches.

All of Bush's advisors --- including Rove --- should be replaced with a team run by Rush Limbaugh.

What a sad, sad, day. I just hope we dont get that commie traitor anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-Capitalist, pro-Europe, pro-terrorist scumbag Kerry and his scumbag lawyer boy in the Whitehouse.

We all laughed at the idea of Clintonistas sabotaging the Kerry campaign.

I'd like to know who's sabotaging the Bush campaign. Clearly somebody is doing that. Clearly somebody in the Bush camp does not want Bush to be president. I'd really like to know who that is.

I love my President and think he held his own or better in the debate; However, his repetitious use of the phrase "hard work" drove me nuts last night.

I felt the President did quite well. He seemed exasperated at the inundation of twisted and oftentimes false utterances from Kerry. About half way through, I was furious that our President had to stand there another 45 minutes wasting time trying to defend our position on the WOT. We are at war for our very lives, Saddam was a terrorist responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands, and our military is bravely fighting this war. I didn't hear any mention of specifics for this supposed brilliant plan of Kerry's, just criticism. I heard a resolved President react to a litany of lies that frankly was a waste of this man's valuable time.

From Drudge:

"Unbeknownst to Kerry adviser Mike McCurry, a C-SPAN camera quietly followed McCurry as he found Kerry adviser Joe Lockhart on Spin Alley floor and asked him his impression of the debate. Lockhart candidly said to McCurry , “The consensus is it was a draw.”

I called a draw mid-way through, as well.

I had a tooth pulled last week, I know that was more pleasant than watching my President last night.

WMD's: "Senator Kerry here are some of the chemical and biological agents we have found and continue to find in Iraq. (LIST THEM NOW) We have also found mobile labs, an ambitious nuclear program was uncovered. Iraqi scientists have proven our worse fears were rapidly materializing. And yes, Saddam Hussein's Iraq was pursuing the purchase of yellow cake uranium in Africa, the same place they had acquired it before the 1981 Israeli air strike.
Senator Kerry, Iraq gas been a terrorists' haven for years. Our special forces along whith the Iraqi Kurds in an extensive battle eliminated one of the largest Al Qaeda training camps in the world in the spring of 2003. Iraqis attempted to destroy the WTC and murder 10's of thousands in February of 1993, the ringleader was an Iraqi agent, another of the Iraqi murderers, the one who mixed the chemicals for the bomb fled to Iraq where he was employed by the Iraqi government for years afterward. Senator, this is not only the right war, at the right time, at the right place my only regret is that it was not done sooner."

THAT'S WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR FROM OUR PRESIDENT!

This debate reminded me in ways of the first Reagan-Mondale debate where Mondale won because Reagan was not on the top of his game. I think Bush lost if only because he missed opportunities, and had some trouble finding words. He only ONCE mentioned Kerry's 20 year senate record. Why? This was the national security debate. I think he should have lanched (albeit it toned down) into a Zell Miller litany of Kerry's votes against weapon systems.

On the bright side, I don't think this was a momentum shifting debate, and Reagan cleaned Mondale's clock in the second debate, so net-net, this debate won't matter much.

I didn't see the debate, although I heard about five minutes on the radio when I had to run to the car during work.

The subject at the time was North Korea, and nuclear proliferation.

The thing that immediately frustrated me was how GWB failed to hit the Democrats and hit them hard on how they completely blew the 1994 agreement with NK.

GWB also went off on this etherical explanation about a multi-lateral meeting with NK rather than a bi-lateral approach, which to me seemed way too wonkish. Bush was way, way too defensive and kept adding phrases like, "um" and "c'mon".

He also failed to nail Kerry when Kerry made the statement that nuclear proliferation was the biggest threat to America.

BUSH SHOULD HAVE SAID, "Then why do you want to give MORE nuclear material to Iran, and why did the former Democratic administration give nuclear material to North Korea, both of them rogue nations that have openly expressed their willingness to build nuclear bombs and join in the war on terror."

During the time i listened, which I said was about five minutes, my impression was that Bush was timid. He seemed afraid to get too rough with Kerry. Maybe he WAS tired.

I love GWB. I spend half my day putting Bush/Cheney2004 bumper stickers on anything and everything I can get away with. I donate money. But I was very frustrated for those five minutes. I turned it off because I didn't want to become discouraged and would rather think of GWB the way I know he can really be.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS POST:

Bush built the container or the house to destroy Kerry.... Kerry is running water---- Bush let him run freely as he prepared the frames of the container to keep the aqueous behavior of Kerry... the house was successfully built...it is ugly and dirty work, that is why Bush worked so hard and let Kerry run.
The container was built on three key principles:
1. Kerry is a flip-flop politician
2. Kerry is a globalist proUN proWorld Court
3. Kerry is anti/weak on defense and poor for morale

Bush contained and framed these key "currents" of this liquid chameleon Kerry. Bush can now beat the hell out of Kerry within the house in which Bush framed. Kerry can't move. The only way for Kerry to escape is by exploding the frame, which will destroy his campaign... he'll have to embrace these "currents"....

Bush has won, he was winning the debates... not the debate.

And you won't hear this until that dark mousy curly haired Krauthammer speaks on Fox... then all the news hacks will pick it up.... and I don't get paid for this... those stupid losers in the beltway press get all the doe.

Oh, because I can't spell
