DENVER (AP) - Air Force Reserve officials here, as well as staffers at the White House, were struggling to explain the sudden appearance of a 1974 document in which George W. Bush submitted his resignation from the Reserve, saying he had "inadequate time" to fulfill his duty obligations.
The White House found the document yesterday and contacted the Air Reserve Personnel Center in Denver, where Bush was serving at the time he wrote the letter. Bush had ordered the release of all of his service records in February.
Reserve Center public affairs spokesman Lt. Col. Tom Deall said he sent Bush's Guard records to the White House two weeks ago, but the resignation letter wasn't in that file.
"We can't explain it and don't know where it came from," Deall said, adding that officials from his agency spent most of Wednesday afternoon on the phone with the White House trying to figure out what happened.
When will they stop this?
It is ADO if it contradicts what Bush has been saying...does it?
Where is the "not this shit again" aggravated man?
Let me be the first to question the timing....
Well, almost all...
Agreed. But I find it amusing they think this is going to work. I guess the theory is if you throw enough mud against the side of the barn some of it going to stick.
Pathetic.
It would seem to be a simple task to determine which individuals had access to the files sent from the records repository in Denver to the White House ... and then examine who on that list might not be a Bush loyalist.
Did Bush actually serve there or is that ANG "purgatory"?
I would vote for Bush even if he got a dishonorable discharge(which he didn't) That was 30 years ago WHO THE HELL CARES!
Oh NO! NOT this s _ _ _ again!
So would I, but after all this, I'd hate to think that Bush has not been forthcoming.
when people start going to jail for making this stuff up.
Send them to FBI and dust for fingerprints.
What's the big deal? He was in the reserves and not active duty. In the reserves you can resign after you've completed your requirements of service.
Isn't 1974 well after GWB had compiled enough points to complete his active duty service requirement? If so, then this letter might simply be a statement on his part that he wanted out.
So don't think it. This stuff is nonsense.
I really don't care... He got enough points thats enough for me...
did it come from Cbs?
