Two points, the Rangers worked for Queen Anne Richards in those days and they were subordinated to the Federales. Still those Ranger officials who testified before Congress made it pretty clear that the BATF Fed up, big time. Wasn't much they could do about. This case is different, in that involved private citizens, not federal officials.
Remember too, that neither the Rangers, nor the local Sheriff, were even consulted before the attack on Mt. Carmel "compound" took place.

Of course you all are right but it all makes the "Don't mess with Texas" phrase a bit extraneous.
The Waco blot on the integrity of the Nation still frustrates. We had such marvelous memories of Waco from way back.
