Bush's Female Support ...Thank the Women of Fox News?
self | self

Posted on 09/29/2004 2:40:38 PM PDT by zencycler

As an avid viewer/reader/listener of many news outlets, I believe that the women of Fox News have created a new dynamic in journalism that has affected the political landscape.

Think of it. Before Fox News came along, where could you regulary find a woman providing "fair and balanced" reporting that dynamic engages both sides of a debate, insuring that all points of view get a full hearing? Want to see this from a woman? Well turn off Katie Couric and watch Linda Vester.

Before Fox News, where have we seen women representing the conservative point of view in a balanced debate? The prior standard in a debate show has been a liberal woman arguing with a conservative man, ala Elenor Clift at the McLauglin Group. Want to see women articulating conservative arguments, then tune into Fox and watch Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Michelle Malkin and many others who regularly fill that role.

This is not meant as an advertisement for Fox News, although I realize it's starting to sound like one. The point of this vanity is that I've been wondering recently about the source of Bush's female support this year. Most talking heads are attributing this to the "Security Mom" efffect. But I'm beginning to wonder if the female viewership have found themselves affected by seeing the conservative point of view so effectively represented by their gender.

I've heard others talk about the effect that Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and other talk-radio and new media MEN have had on the electorate, and this is probably true. But most of the voters they persuade, I'd guess, are also men. I think it's time to acknowledge the effect that these and other notable women have had on informing and persuading the electorate, don't you?

Nobody really knows why Bush is getting more of the female vote. Maybe it is just the "Security Mom" effect. But I'd like to believe that the greater cause is the courage, leadership and grace of the many new female voices that have emerged of late.

E.D. Hill is another good proponent of the conservative "security mom" (she's got quite a litter) argument every morning on Fox & Friends, and on O'Reilly's Radio Factor. I dislike how Bill often disses her opinions, which I often find very valid.

Crosby is over eager and whiny. The other woman who gets on my last nerve is Lis Wiehl - plays too "cute" by half.

One of the bravest women on FOX has to be Jennifer Griffin. I pray for her safety whenever I see her interviewing those crazed Palis.

Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Michelle Malkin, Peggy Noonan, Linda Chavez, and scores of other rational and dynamic women are leading the charge. And they are good leaders.

She's a beauty, no doubt about it.

Forty-eight women. And yes, they are all Fox women. They aren't all conservative, and some seem brighter than others, but I don't think you'll find that many females gracing the alphabet networks.

The data one receives has a lot of influence on how one votes. Women, until this year it seems, got most of their info from old media sources such as newspapers & the alphabets. This was reinforced by day-time TV talk & women's mags.

It looks like conservatives have finally gotten smart.

I don't usually use the word 'cute'. Linda Vester is the cutest woman on TV.

Well, consider the reverse. There's a reason the MSM want to showcase the stereotypical white male "conservative" on their shows. Buchanan and Novak and Bowtie, f'rinstance.

They wouldn't think of hiring female or minority "conservatives" to represent the right. That's a big no-no.

I am always amazed when someone makes the statement "too bad she's married". Like you or I would have a chance if she was single!!!

Women are not men. Men LIKE the women at FOX.

It is the SECURITY aspect that draws them to Bush. They can't make heads nor tails out of Kerry and find him creepy as well as shifty. They may not agree with all of Bush plans but they feel more SECURE with him against terrorism. Feeling more secure is most important to them right now. Maybe the beheadings and the recent school problem in Russia got to them.
