Urge House Members to Support The Marriage Protection Amendment
Last Updated: September 28, 2004
The House of Representatives is expected to vote on the "Marriage Protection Amendment," H.J. Res. 106, on Sept. 30, 2004. (The Marriage Protection Amendment was formerly called the "Federal Marriage Amendment" or "FMA.")
We have researched the positions of members of Congress - and have classified them in four categories: cosponsors (those who have signed their names to the amendment); members expected to support; expected to oppose; and undecided.
The representatives we can count on to vote in favor of the amendment are the cosponsors. As of Sept. 27, the cosponsors stand 129 strong. That is a large number, but not large enough to........
The article HERE will tell you how your congresscritter plans to vote on this critical amendment.

Our representatives in Congress need to know that we support traditional man-woman marriage, and that we expect them to support passage of this amendment. Unless this amendment to the U.S. Constitution is passed and ratified, it's only a matter of time before the U.S. Supreme Court strikes down all state laws and state constitutional amendments prohibiting same-sex marriage. But even the Supremes can't strike down an amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The representatives we can count on to vote in favor of the amendment are the cosponsors. As of Sept. 27, the cosponsors stand 129 strong. That is a large number,
but not large enough. To pass the House of Representatives, the Marriage Protection Amendment needs 288 votes. Therefore, your calls, e-mails, and letters are
URGENTLY needed.

And get more Republican Representatives in the House so they can approve the FMA! Right.
Of the critters definitely opposed to the amendment, all but 2 are Democrats. I counted only 13 Democrats who either sponsored or are supporting the amendment to protect traditional marriage, and most of them are from conservative southern or western states.
It's very clear where the vast majority of the Democrat party stands on the issue of homosexual marriage. But what else could we expect from the party that fanatically fights to protect partial birth abortion, pornography, and bogus homosexual "rights"?

That's very disappointing. I can't understand how any representative of the people, certainly not a Republican representative, can justify voting against legislation that is supported by over 2/3 of the American people. The homo money must be coming into their coffers at a good clip.

Is there any way to request that the MOD's place this thread in the sidebar so people can see it? I am just a newbie how do you place such a request? One Republican is Rep. Mary Bono, whose district includes Palm Springs, a growing homosexual mecca here in California. She knows all she answers to is her homosexual activist constituency and not the general populace at large.

Our Congressman Virgil Goode [R-VA 5th dist.] is onboard with the Federal Marriage Amendment, the Houses of Worship Political Protection Act H.R. 2357 and The Constitution Restoration Act H.R. 3799 [this keeps the courts out of religious matters like removing Ten Commandments and school prayer]. So is Congressman Bob Goodlatte [R-VA 6th dist.]
Both Senator George Allen and Senator John Warner voted for these bills as well.

Both Senator George Allen and Senator John Warner voted for these bills as well. Good for them. My two Senators (Chambliss and Miller) and my Congressman (Deal) voted for the Federal Marriage Amendment and will vote for the new version as well. Nathan Deal is one of the sponsors of the House bill.
Even though I don't really need to ask them to vote properly this time around, I can let them know I appreciate their votes. I think it's important to keep our representatives in D.C. aware that we are watching how they vote, whether they're on our side of the issues or not.

Another bump for the Thursday FReepers.
I won't be around the puter much this afternoon, so I hope someone will please keep this thread bumped. We need as many callers to Congress as we can get. Thanks.
