WHEN they go to the polls in November, which of the two major parties will American Jews support? Consider: At Party A's national convention, a prime speaking slot went to an infamous racial inciter, one with an ugly history of Jew-baiting. At Party B's convention, a leading speaker recalled with empathy the many pre-9/11 victims of terrorism, such as Leon Klinghoffer, whom the killers ''marked ... for murder solely because he was Jewish.'' Party A's presidential nominee said nothing about Israel in his convention acceptance speech. Party B's nominee, on the other hand, made a point of referring to ''our good friend Israel'' - and his campaign later distributed that portion of his remarks to its national e-mail list. Increasingly,

American blacks are increasingly getting off the democrat plantation. I would urge my fellow Jews to do the same.
From the Globe!?!?!
I can't say I disagree one bit, and have wondered about this very issue for years.
You and me both! I recommend joining the Republican Jewish Coalition if you haven't already. www.rjchq.org
This is an EXCELLENT article! Thank you for posting it. I am surprised to see it in the Boston Globe, but that is where it belongs. I hope the New York Times and the Washington Post will pick it up.
Jacoby is their token conservative. I am surprised they haven's suspended his column as he has been nailing the leftists regularly.
Can this thread be moved to the sidebar so it will be seen for awhile? The article it links to is important and well stated.
Stay Grim. I ain't going to happen.
If you'd like to be on or off this middle east/political ping list, please FR mail me.
Excellent piece. Jacoby has courage. Democrat ethnicities need to read this.
The very same mouthbreathers advancing said observations, ironically, will then promptly pivot and wonder, aloud, why more Jews don't instinctively vote Republican.
I sadly must agree with you. As a half Jew that is supporting GW Bush, it hurts me to see "any" Jew supporting John Kerry. Kerry is no friend of Israel, and he will do nothing when Kofi Annan and Bin Laden declare open season on Israeli and American Jews. Bin Laden is rubbing his hands and praying to Allah for a John Kerry victory. American Jews by virtue of voting for John Kerry is walking their way right into the Muslim terrorist beheading room. What fools!!!
The day won't be nearly over.
Sadly, American Jews will vote for Kerry at the same rate as American Muslims. Is this crazy or what? Those of us on this side can't give up. I'm not Jewish, but my mother in law is. I worked on her for years, she's 81, and what finally did it was when I reminded her of the St. Louis.
Maybe it will help others make the point.
I went out with a liberal Jewish girl and asked her 'why'?
she stated that she was afraid of the 'christian right'.
I then asked her what was the greater to the state of Isreal?
The UN which the Democrats LOVE or the Jews for Jesus?
No answer.
Im sure she will still vote Democrat. Amazing how dull the mind can be.
'greater threat' that is.
Kerry wants American Jews to join him and the UN in singing Disney's "It's a small small world, after all" while Hamas runs wild blowing up Israelis.
"Bin Laden is rubbing his hands and praying to Allah for a John Kerry victory."
> I also saw on Fox last night that N. Korea has stated that all negotiations are off until after the next election. They feel that John Kerry will be much easier to negotiate with.
