Kerry's Mystic Tan for the Magical Mystical Tour. "They're coming to take me away, take me away."

Consumer Team Report

Mystic Tan (WWLP; June 4, 2002) – Is it possible to get a perfect tan in seconds, without the harmful effects of the sun? This Consumer team report tells us of the results of the 22News Consumer Team test of the "Mystic Tan" technique.

Makers of 'Mystic Tan' say it applies a sunless tan safely, quickly, evenly... and in only 28 seconds. But we wanted to see for ourselves. Is it possible to get a UV free tan in seconds? With the push of a button, a fine mist of Aloe Vera, an instant bronzer, and a chemical called DHA are sprayed from nozzles onto your skin.

We wanted to know, is this stuff safe? Springfield dermatologist Dr. Stanley Glazer says, yes. He says the active chemical... DHA or Di-Hydroxy Acetone is what's found in most over-the- counter self-tanners. When it's applied to the skin it causes it to darken, like a stain. Dr. Glazer: “They darken the most superficial layer of the skin called the Stratum-Corneum. They're quite effective. They're very safe. There's a rare instance of people being sensitive or allergic to them, but it's quite uncommon.”

So what's the difference between 'Mystic Tan' and the kind you find in a bottle? Liz Piponidis: “It does go on streak-free so I like it a lot better than self-tanners.”

Owner of East Longmeadow's Island Tanning, Todd Witwer explained that users should wear nylon foot coverings, a hair cap and barrier cream on their hands. Todd Witwer: “It will mist you for 14 seconds on the front, turn around it'll mist you for 14 seconds on the back, then you get out, towel dry and about 6 hours later you're totally tan.”

But we wanted to check it out for ourselves... all at the expense of a potentially great tan. I gave mystic tan a run for its money... and ended up with a noticeable tan. And speaking of money, one of these sessions costs about $25... but Witwer says, compare that to a tanning bed, or the natural sun... both unhealthy and potentially dangerous to your skin. Todd Witwer: “It usually takes about 5 to 7 sessions to get a tan. With this it takes 1 session, the next day you've got a tan. We're trying to discourage tanning, but if people want the color, this is certainly a reasonable alternative I think.”

It has been 6 days since my Mystic Tan session and the color started to fade about a day ago. So Mystic Tan lives up to its claims. One Consumer Team observation; wearing the nylon footwear can cause a tan line there. So users may want to use barrier cream on the soles of their feet and toenails. And on a sidenote, Mystic Tan should not be used to create a base-tan before going in the sun. It will not protect you from sunburn.

A secret service agent and his midget sidekick quickly run to Kerrys aid to prevent 3rd degree burns from the sun.

Yes, I can see by the look on his face that the sun on that cloudy day must have been burning him to a crsip..

Mmmm. Good idea. There are about 7 other football pics. Maybe one of them might show the sky.

Boofen,

Boofen, officially: free-stay overnight; -) a very old tradition is in Saxonian climbing. The generation after the First World War, perhaps already before, began to bivouac under the summits and walls - Saxonian boofen. There only a small circle and almost exclusively Kletterer the booften were long years. Into the 70ern uferte suddenly out. Not only the number of the Boofer rose the far over measure of the nature-compatible but also their behavior vibrated the dog including hut. Slope zones were "erodiert", Railing dismantles and the more highly the forest fire stage, the more largely the flames. The whole had with to climb also rarely do (and by the way also nothing with internal resistance against the system!) In this time it did not give to become also the first efforts of the thing gentleman and by any means only ordered from above.

You breath 71% nitrogen with every breath. The liquid form looks like boiling water in a cup. Very cold. -273C in the center.

Yeah, I know the N2 is harmless at room temp, but liquid can burn you pretty badly in the right quantities.

Fascinating to drop stuff in it and see the result. You know, balloons, cola, assorted fruit, mewing kittens, etc.

Wait until he goes to speak to the blueberry farmers and researches Wonkavision on how to become a blueberry. Gene Wilder might take him to juicing room.

Hilarious captions. He doesn't exactly bring back memories of Dick Butkus or Lawrence Taylor, does he?
