The rolls were probably started by wind shear. At Oshkosh Bert said that the FAA required them to fly a profile that was less than optimum in order to avoid overlight of populated areas. He said the required profile was more dangerous than the optimum because it presents more wind shear danger.
This wind shear issue seemed to be a big deal to Bert.

They don't have to do successful flights twice in a row. If they recharge once and fail due to some problem, they can recharge again and try a couple days later. It would be pretty silly with the fast turn around of this vehicle to squander the time.
