I'm considering giving a DVD of this as a child's gift, but I was wondering about the content of the film. Anybody have information/opinions they wish to share?
Thanks.
Other than the quality of the film (not so hot) there is not much objectionalble. I think "Iron Giant" or "Emperor's New Groove" are a lot better. ENG is a vastly underappreciated movie. "Cats Don't Dance" is a similarly very good film. All are available on DVD.
Home on the Range not a good option. Very violent movie for youngsters.
Just rented and watched it. It was OK, pretty innocent. Certainly nowhere as good as some of Disney's work in the '90s (Aladdin, etc.).
Yeah--it s-cks. Took my kid to see it, Rosie O'Donnell is the voice of the cow....get something else, I heard Ice Age is a good kid flick.
How old is the child?
Actually, three kids: 6, 4, and 3.
Iron Giant is a GREAT kids movie. Hold off buying the one on the market now, there is a super-duper Special Edition coming out in November.
"Emperor's New Groove" is hysterical. We quote it constantly in our house, how-many-years later?

Ooops! I was thinkin "On the Range", I think that was the name with Kevin whats his name.
Ice Age is also not so hot (chuckle). Seriously, Ice age has a couple good gags, but not worth the time.
In general, here are two sites that are constant reference-points at least for me, in selecting unknowns:

It has some mild rude humor in it.
It isn't a terrible film, but overall it's not a memorable film either. Have to get past Rosanne's voice.
"I heard Ice Age is a good kid flick."
I didn't care for Ice Age. To me, the characters weren't very likeable, not even the mammoth. The movie had an overall "downer" feel to it.
I sure hope we're helping the original poster! Lots of conflicting opinions.
What you said.
Can't wait for that! IG is perhaps the best traditionally animated movie made (if you discount the "I am not a gun" stuff. The sound effect of the "chocolate" taking effect in Kent's stomach is the best in the history of motion pictures.
How about the oldies like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Mary Poppins?
My daughter, age 4, still prefers those live action classics over the cartoons.
If you like ENG make sure you see "Cats Don't Dance" too. Mark Dindal directed both.
That was very helpful.
