Prayer request needed.

I feel a little ashamed to ask for a prayer request as I am not an active member of this board, more of a Lurker? I suppose. Last weekend my wife and I split after 8 years together. She claims that her heart has changed due to me not finding a job in the past 6 months. She says that she still loves me, however, she can't wait forever for me to find a job. I asked her if we could go to counseling and work this out, but she states that her heart won't change on this. I must point out that in the past 2 years we have had to endure many trials. In 2002 we had three children die within the immediate family, and this past August her mother and father were in the process of splitting up. I feel that if I just give her time to think things through and in the meantime find a job and clear out my emotional baggage we can reconcile our relationship. I ask for prayers for the rekindling of our love for each other, and the healing necessary to reconcile with each other and continue our relationship. I don't know if this prayer request is coherent but I am doing the best that I can under the circumstances. I thank you all and God Bless you, the President and the United States.

P.S. I will keep all abreast of the situation and God's role in this present situation.

We all need prayer, nothing to be ashamed of. Prayer said.

Everyone deserves prayer, weshess, so I'll say one for you.

I'll also pass along some super advice. Open up the paper. Circle every ad for a job you can do, regardless what it is. Start applying. Then let go. You're working for God, who is your real employer. Everything else will come.

Your profile page leaves me wondering why you can't find a job. Any job, even washing dishes, is better than no job - even if for no other reason than maintaining one's pride.

I've washed plenty of dishes on my way through life, and may have to again. But from age 16 to 45 I've been out of work less than 10 days total.

Life has many trials, but your wife has a point. Get a job, any job, and show her you are being the head of the household. Where so many men have let down our country is by not taking on as the spitural leader of our home.
I say prayers for you and it is up to You to show her you have changed and most important Get a Job and ask God to guide you to be the man He wanted you to become.

I will say a prayer. Having a relationship break up is very hard - I've been there, and recently - so try to find peace in God's grace. Try to clear your head and take the steps you need to. If you do your part God will be there also to guide you. Take care of yourself, and whatever happens with your relationship will happen. If this person wasn't right for you, something better will come along. I know other posts to you have a more "forceful" tone, but I can't judge you. But you can judge you and try to make things better for you. Once you're in a better place, the rest will follow.

Good luck.

Some advice...

Love isn't an emotion, its a choice. It was a choice made on your wedding day, and it is a choice that is ever present throughout your married life. What did your wife mean on your wedding day when she promised to love your for better or worse?

I apologize for the harshness, but as a product of a divorced family unit, and witnessing the continual destruction of the family in our society, I've grown quite bitter and tired of people giving up on each other because they aren't "happy."

No one is beyond prayer. Pride separates us from God. Congratulations, you have taken the first step in a path to Him. I agree with several others, get a job - it might be that God wants you there for a reason. Be strong for your wife! I pray for your marriage.

Immediately, find yourself a good 12-step program. Co-dependence Anonymous is a good place to start. You can find CODA meetings from your telephone directory or from the Internet

Ask for help from folks you meet in the program. Do what they suggest. Work on yourself. It is not easy, but it is simple

Good luck.

In 1989 I was exactly where you are. One day I got up and went to a fast food restaurant and got a job that day. Hard work is better than sitting at home stewing about your problems. Your wife may not come back but the job is not the reason. It is easier to get a job when you have a job and it is easier to get up in the morning when you have somewhere to go. God loves you, I will pray for you but you can get a job.
