The faux war hero has a glass jaw.
I've never heard of a grown man whining like this.
He tries to ban a book that is critical of him and now complains because we all notice his face is orange?
He says Bring It On.
Then he says Make It Stop.
Really, I want to see his medical records. He's unbalanced.

My computer has been off all day because of lightening possibilities, so I just logged on.
There are 8 different threads about the "Tan." Thousands of comments, tens of thousands of views.
I think this is a major moment for 'undecided' voters.
They might not do "nuance" and might give Kerry the benefit of the doubt when he discusses policy.
But anyone over the age of ten knows that if you make a blunder like this, you say "I made a mistake," and laugh it off.
The fact that Kerry is incapable of doing that is very telling to even the most unsophisticated voter.
with proper spin, he could say the color was in sympathy for Florida orange growers, hurt by the global warming driven hurricanes.

I think he did the spray-on tan, too. He sweats a lot and wanted the temp at the debate venue set at 65 but that was not allowed. He is afraid he will sweat through heavy makeup so he tried this - big mistake, he looks ridiculous.

If he were jaundiced the whites of his eyes would be yellow. I still see white there. A modern version of an old saying would be "Don't FREEP until you see the whites of his eyes." Thus I'll continue FREEPING!
Not so, consuming LARGE quantities of carrot will turn a person orange as will taking beta-carotine capsules.
True and this Dermatologist has seen that. However it is a more subtle yellow-orange, not the red-orange seen here. And it tends to be most prominent at the palms and soles, especially in the creases there. I wouldn't expect so much color at the face.
Beta-carotene is Vitamin A.
Actually beta-carotene is a precursor the body can convert into Vitamin A. The vitamin itself won't color your skin, barring massive overdoses that injure the liver and then cause jaundice.

Remember when Clinton changed the color of his hair all the time depending on the image he wanted to present? There were plenty of threads on that at the time.
I favor a bad self tanning experience. However as I don't perform chemical or laser resurfacing I've not seen how their residual erythema + makeup would look. I understand they may take a few days to heal and question whether he's been out of the public eye long enough to make them a real option. Both beg a bigger question. Why, with all the support Kerry gets from Hollywood and the media, can't they find him a decent makeup person?! Using makeup to cover redness isn't difficult. Using self tanners isn't difficult. Teenage girls do both all the time. If he can't even pass the teenage girl difficulty standard how can he expect to govern the country?
BTW, all the self tanners, dating back to the notoriously orange QT, use the exact same active ingredient. Different concentrations of it in different delivery vehicles on different places on different people result in different colors. Improved delivery vehicles account for the usually better results seen over the past decade. I recommend practicing first on areas you won't be showing off. Of course with the commercial whole body sprays you are stuck, but I've not heard many complaints beyond the expense. Both cream and spray tans are safe (safer than sun or tanning bed tans!) and can produce much more realistic fakes than CBS.

How much beta carotene must one ingest in order to turn orange? I have taken Vitamin A everyday for years and have yet to accomplish that Kerryesque glow... :)
