If this is a typical news man the media are in more trouble than I thought. He does not know the difference between some one running a web log and a poster, but writes an denigrating op-ed about them. He accuses Buckhead of being wrong on the superscript issue but his post never mentioned superscripts. He obviously did not read Buckhead's post or simply chose to imitate Dan Rather and make up evidence to attack him with. Buckhead's post to freerepublic.com said that it appeared to be a proportional font and that most typewriters in 1972 could only do monospaced. Everything he said is perfectly true and correct, then and now. He says that bloggers can't check facts. Obviously he has huge issues with that himself, but within 24 hours through the use of Google hundreds of bloggers and their readers had located the nation's best experts on typography and handwriting and were getting informed opinions from them that the documents were suspect. Something that mainstream media, including CBS was also able but unwilling to do until the tsunami of public outcry forced them to. Long live the Pajamahadeen!

OUCH! Jason sure is p!ssed.
I surmise he must be upset that his parents spent so much hard-earned money sending him to journalism school and nobody has heard of him. In fact, some lawyer, nicknamed Buckhead, is more famous for his journalistic pursuits than is Jason. You know it must really hurt the "professional" journalists when hobbyists are better at the craft than the professionals.

They have no checks. No balances. No names. And no legal framework to face.I give this "journalist" 15 seconds to see how long his trash can stand up to the "checks and balances" of Free Republic. I doubt he would last that long.

They laugh at the "bloggers" in pajamas and they are the ones who are technically ignorant. Mr. Winders sounds like a rube.

A new local news program will hit the Athens airwaves beginning April 8 at 4:30 p.m. Athens News Matters,
produced by local public radio station WUGA-FM 91.7/97.9, is a weekly program featuring media professionals discussing issues important in and around Athens. The journalists will also discuss how their publications choose to cover the news and what news to cover.
Panelists and production crew prepare to tape the first installment of the new radio program Athens News Matters at the WUGA studio. From left to right are host Mary Kay Mitchell and panelists Brad Aaron of Athens News Weekly, Jason Winders of the Athens-Banner-Herald and Sarah Thuerk of the Oconee Enterprise. No I don't, what a weasel. And though there are some inexperienced people here, including myself, most just want to find the truth, something that has been lost in the MSM..And who says we have no way of finding out facts, I think that this guy, needs to spend more time here....

But there I was knee-deep in blog buzz trying to play catch-up last week.Stinks when the people on Free Republic are more informed than you!
But Jason, you must really be slow. I believe the others in the MSM were caught up at least a week before you were.

Classic stuff. If I had to make up a passage epitomizing condescending cluelessness, it would be hard to beat this. The tendency of leftists to change questions of fact into questions of motive is fully in evidence here, and as a nice ironic touch the author blathers on about the importance of facts while getting his own fact noticeably screwed up. I tell you, the man has talent. No ordinary man could be this lazy and foolish.

What's pathetic about this journalist goes beyond his petty arrogance and elitist patronage....
He still hasn't come to the conclusion that he does nothing...absolutely nothing....
He writes about people who do something...who contribute to society....
He's a Walter Mitty living through other's accomplishments....
On the flip side, I've accomplished things...I've testified before Congress and the FCC, recognized by the Federal Court and several state courts as an expert witness. Built telecom systems all over the world, and in places most people would not want to go. Started companies, raised venture capital etc.
I'm a blogger and in my p.j.'s......and damn proud of it....Long Live Free Republic!

They're the spitball shooters in the back of the class. Sort of like newspaper columnists, only with cooler, CB handle-like names. I distinctly recall going the real name route, until Big Media decided to SLAPP-suit us.
