I give this "journalist" 15 seconds to see how long his trash can stand up to the "checks and balances" of Free Republic. I doubt he would last that long.
A journalist w/o integrity can subvert any system of checks and balances no matter how many layers. Just like a crooked CFO can fool an army of auditors. After all, didn't the NYT find that out the hard way with Jason Blair? Isn't CBS learning that lesson right now? Formal checks and balances just prevent honest mistakes, not intentional misrepresentations. On the Internet, it has to survive everyone - i.e, a system of infinite depth.
