It appears that Line 6, the California guitar amp/effects company, is supporting the Punkvoter.com tour (aka the Rock Against Bush), letting it out by touting the fact that one of their endorsing bands is on it. Punkvoter.com is a corporation put together by members of several punk rock bands and record labels with the sole goal of tarnishing Bush's reputation and getting people to vote against him.
The punk band Midtown, whom before this I had never heard of, is featured on their Artist's News section for being on this tour, even though there are hundreds of more well-known Line 6 endorsing bands gearing up for tours that get no press on their site. I find this grossly unprecedented and I am awaiting equal time for non-Bush hating bands from Line 6.
Until they Dual-Rectify the situation I will no longer purchase Line 6 products, which is quite unfortunate because I really like their amps and equipment. I am asking every gutiarist out there to find alternatives to Line 6, and to contact Line 6 asking them to clarify their position.
My father posted a few days ago about how we were treated at a Punkvoter-sponsored Flogging Molly concert, and now we're starting a counter-offensive. Check out our band Attila and the Huns at http://www.aath.net
Good for you! What your father described was surely an ugly scene. Y'all done good by standing up to the anti-American punks.
And I shall refrain from 1) playing my Variax & Pod in public, and, 2) even considering future Line 6 products (where's my Workbench!!??) until after the election...
Sure as heck would not buy any Line6 product now!
Ahh, Line 6 stuff is junk. Punk rockers by and large are idiots, with the exception of yourself of course.
You want a VERY cool modeling amp, check out Fender's new CyberTwin. REAL tube-driven crunch with a butt-load of digitil effects controled by a killer MIDI foot-pedal system. It also has classic Fender clean channel sound, reverb, and plenty of power. This is what I use - the perfect gigging amp.
I had a Line 6 POD but hated it. A digital circuit just cannot emulate tube sound, ever. I played with the Pod for about a month and then traded it to a sap I know, plus $100, for a killer Fender Telecaster.
There are many good alternatives. You may want to check out Tech 21 products, the Johnson J-Station modeller, or Yamaha's DG Stomp.
Scrap that digital crap...nothing honks like a good tube amp with big, hot finals. Gimme' a Mesa Boogie or a Fender Dual Reverb any day.
Line 6 is for kids.
I have not one, but TWO Johnson J-Stations. They kick the crap out of the POD anyway.
I run my J-Stations thru a 200-watt American made Lab Series L-11. Line 6 amps are now made in China. And their web site has a strangely communist theme ...
If you want to toss your POD, freep mail me and I'll send you my address. You can toss it my way. I'll pay the freight.
Good news - because of complaints sent to Line 6 by myself they have changed the title of the article from "Midtown Rocks Against Bush" to "Midtown: New Sound, Same Great Gear". They still reference the Rock Against Bush tour (the end of the article still sounds like an advertisement for the show) but at least we're making a difference.
j-station is gone now...went out of business.
From what I've heard the behringer pod clones are actually better sounding than the pods at about 1/3 the price.
Bah. I never was a fan of their stuff anyway.
1: Punk Rock is not a valid form of music. Period. No "anti-industry/anti-establishment" or "underground" mindset can change the fact that punk is just plain garbage rock played by mostly talentless, urban dirtbags.
2: Serious guitar players use Fender or Marshall amps.
3: Save it. I've been playing too long to have my mind changed.
:-)
Dang. Just bought a Line 6 Guitar Port a few weeks ago. The software hangs when I launch it, though. It must have a built-in "conservative detector" that tells it when to act up. ;-)
i was just going to buy a pod too. guess i'll stick to my digitech for awhile longer.
>>Well, I'm chucking my POD out the window.<<
Well, behringer is cheaper, but buying German reverse engineered stuff sort of bites.
Line 6 is crap. I have a Delay Modeler pedal (the only reason I bought it is because of the Looping feature).....wish I had purchased a Boomerang instead.
Or my Peavey Classic 30, or my two '65 Gibson Falcons, or my...
