Sign Theft
Can't blame people around here if a certain political paranoia has set in. Not when at least 13 of their lawn signs were stolen and vandalized. And privately police told them the number may be closer to 50. But there's one thing the political pilfers didn't know. They were caught on tape. Along Alpine Trail in Eden Prairie... Where Bush-Cheney signs outnumber Kerry-Edwards, a contentious harmony prevailed among these political animals. Until recently. Norbert Gernes isn't alone. At least seven of his neighbors have had their Kerry signs stolen. And returned, well done. But Kim Ross did something else. She set up her video camera at the window, and kept it rolling. And yesterday, as the storm winds moved in, so did the sign bandits. Driving by in a white S-U-V, they're scared off by a neighbor mowing the yard. Another pass. 30 seconds later, they move in, a teenager jumps out, grabs the sign, and they're off. And Eden Prairie is not alone. In Golden Valley, 17 families with Kerry lawn signs got hate male cursing Kerry, Jews and Gays. In Apple Valley someone else is stealing Kerry signs. But it's also a bi-partisan crime. In Fridley, Mounds View, and St. Paul, it's Bush-Cheney signs that were recently stolen or defaced. This crime also stinks, even though it's just a misdemeanor. Police suspect it's most likely a student at Eden Prairie High. Although none of the kids we talked to recognized the perp. The neighbors on both sides would love to teach the kids a lesson, about tolerance, respect, and fair play. Kim ross wonders if that would be over their heads.
How do we know this whole thing wasn't a CBS-style stage job?

I thought that was a Democrat platform item.
Vandalizing signs is wrong PERIOD.
Stealing signs is wrong PERIOD.
The glee of some for these acts paints a poor portrait of the law-abiding posters at this website.
Cry me a river...
"But it's also a bi-partisan crime. In Fridley, Mounds View, and St. Paul, it's Bush-Cheney signs that were recently stolen or defaced."
Why, then, does the Drudge headline only mention Kerry signs?
This stuff is so childish. I stopped stealing campaign signs when I was seventeen. ;O)

I agree, and I don't condone it.
But it's happened to us Bush/Cheney supporters as well. Remember the union thug who took that 3 year old's Bush/Cheney sign and ripped it to shreds?
Did THAT make headlines anywhere except for the Blogosphere?
The Rats of today are are a nasty, vicious bunch. And the majority of the press is ignoring it.
I saw them put the signs in their trunk and when confronted they just lied through their teeth. It just disgusted me that that's what you get when you're up against "the ends justify the means crowd."
Honor means nothing to them. Even the top of their heap is still the dregs.
Collect a reward, and donate it to the Bush/Cheney campaign! :)
Regarding #1
Your post should be deleted. The tone and title makes it sound like the you condone the theft of our opponents' signs. Most of us, as decent, law abiding citizens, don't. We would like to believe that we are above the tactics normally employed by the criminal left. If we stoop to their level, we have nowhere else to go.
I for one would like to find out that this was a setup by the Dems (typical Tawana Brawley type liberal activism - baiting the enemy). Should that be the case though, you attitude VALIDATES THE ATTEMPTED SMEAR.
Please, we know the left is capable of this type of activity. Let us remain above it.
I might add that the ONE house that has a Kerry sign in the front yard in this majority-military,(who, needless to say, mostly vote Republican) conservative region has not had their sign touched. (when other people have had their mailboxes vandalized)
Fine with me, Bluefish. You want to think that about me, go ahead. (40 year old Mom)
I had only pointed it out to show media bias. (in not reporting any Bush/Cheney signs theft)
I'm tired of Kerry and his supporters always being portrayed as "victims"
Can you understand where I'm coming from?
Sounds like a setup to me. Seems like the story may have been "organized".
I was going to stop and buy some plants from a neighborhood business. But then I saw the Kerry sign out front. They lost my business fast -- I just haven't told them why yet.
But I guess Bluefish thinks we should just ignore it.
I have a "Hillary for Senator " sign that I put out with my Halloween decorations. It's the scariest thing I have.
Cad.
