Candidate's stands on gay issues cited
WASHINGTON The Republican Party is portraying John Kerry, a Roman Catholic, as "wrong for Catholics" and suggesting that his opponent, George W. Bush, a Methodist, has a stronger record on Catholic values.
Earlier this month, the Republican National Committee opened a Web site, KerryWrongForCatholics.com, that takes Kerry to task for voting against the Defense of Marriage Act, favoring civil unions for gays and lesbians, opposing vouchers for private schools, and taking stands on abortion and other issues that are contrary to church teachings.
The site points out where Kerry, a Catholic, is at variance with the Vatican. A section on Kerry's stance on same-sex unions, for example, is headlined: "Kerry Said Vatican Should Not Instruct Catholic Politicians, Calling It 'Inappropriate.'"
A Kerry spokesman, Michael Meehan, expressed offense at the nature of the Republican Party's attacks. "It is outrageous that they say Kerry is 'wrong for Catholics,'" Meehan said. "He is a Catholic, and the issues that he believes in, most Catholics believe in."

Sorry if this is a duplicate. I performed a search, but no one linked to this article, although people did report the existence of KerryWrongForCatholics.com

""It is outrageous that they say Kerry is 'wrong for Catholics,'" Meehan said."
Which is more outrageous? That Kerry is wrong for Catholics....or that the Bush Administration pointed out that he's wrong for them?

Bush aides don't need to be pointing this out. The real Catholics already know this. This may turn into one of those backfire issues if they keep it up.

Meehan said. "He is a Catholic, and the issues that he believes in, most Catholics believe in." And this Catholic is calling "Bullshit" on Meehan and Kerry.

Most Catholics will never hear of this website, but they are well aware of the communion flap, and are aware that Kerry's in favor of abortion.

Meehan is an absolute swine-beggar! He once told Stuart Varney, "You are insane!," on Saturday morning business show on FOX. He hasn't been back since, although I've missed watching for about 3 weeks.
I thought Stuart would cream the twerp! Actually I was HOPING he would!

Is the Pope wrong for Catholics ? No. Too much is made of that. John Paul II was merely showing a sign of respect.

That's true, and a risk which the Bush campaign choses to take. BUt who knows, it could very well work to their advantage.

I just spent the afternoon canvassing downtown for anyone interested in Bush/Cheney yard signs. Now I'm going to spend my evening throwing up.
I never expected any of the residents of the downtown crack houses to want a BC yard sign, so that was no surprise. What is making me sick is that dozens of my neighbors who attended mass with me this morning got upset with me when I canvassed them because they are all Kerry supporters.
I hit around 250 homes. I got one yard sign commitment. And now I know a little bit more about the Catholics in my community.

Good to hear from someone who this pertains to!

What do you think of the website?
To: Gary - Peters
That's an awfully weird photo, but it might pacify the Islamics.
To: sinkspur
You know, freeangel could be right, if Kerry's as good a debater as he seems. (I think that, like Al Gore, Kerry will make an ass out of himself in the debates, but that's a different story)
