John Kerry blasted President Bush two weeks ago for failing to push for an extension of the assault weapons ban, saying he's never met anyone who wanted to use an AK-47 to shoot a deer.
But that was before Kerry admitted in a magazine interview that he owns a Chinese assault rifle.
"My favorite gun is the M-16 that saved my life and that of my crew in Vietnam," Kerry tells Outdoor Life in its October issue. "I don't own one of those now, but one of my reminders of my service is a Communist Chinese assault rifle." The Kerry campaign stonewalled questions on their candidate's illegal gun stash, with spokesman Michael Meehan telling the New York Times only that his boss was a registered gun owner in Massachusetts.
Meehan said that Kerry had unable to respond to questions about his banned weapon because his voice was too hoarse. The Kerry aide refused to return follow-up calls.
"It's O.K. for John Kerry to own these kinds of firearms, but it's not O.K. for John Q. Public?" complained National Rifle Association spokesman Andrew Arulanandam, in an interview with the Times.
"He certainly owes people an explanation as to why there's a double standard," Arulanandam added, noting that if the top Democrat brought his illegal assault rifle home from the war as a souvenir he could be subject to court-martial.
Personally, I think that it's another phony baloney story from Kerry.
Our guns were bigger than your guns. :-)
Like that CIA smelly cap he carries around in his briefcase.
Maybe he made the whole thing up....but it's not unusual for the elite who insist that peasants should not be armed...or that the 1st ammendment is a collective right rather than an individual one..to have substantial personal firearm collections...or for leaders to possess weapons ordinary citizens can not...
imo
FWIW, it is very common to hunt pigs with assault weapons. I've used an SKS to take several pigs/boars. Ballistically, the 7.62 x 39 mm round used in AK47's and SKS's (and Ruger Mini 30's) is not much different than the venerable 30-30. Some ammo mfgr's are now selling hunting cartridges for them. But trust me, the FMJ round works wonders on pigs.
Andy Andy Andy...You're forgetting that Hanoi John is better than us. He is a great man of wisdom and priviledge. We are riff-raff.
I like my Finnish one better.
Perfect for drive-by shootings.
I traded my SKS and $700boot for a new Bushmaster AR-15 with 16in. barrel plus flash-suppressor\recoil-compensater in lovely desert camo style.
If he does really, truly have such a weapon, he should tell us if it was a gift from the Communist Chinese.
someone here tripped to this little gaffe sometime last week... or earlier.
I do hope this gets louder.
Evade, obfuscate, spin.
Kerry is an ignorant dumb ass that doesn't have the gun sense that God gave a gnat.
Kerry is such a horse's ass that he thinks you crawl through the woods with a double barrel shotgun to go deer hunting.
What an ass.
I believe, in part of the interview, either with Outdoor Life or Field and Stream, he was asked what his biggest deer was; his response was: "Oh, I don't know, an eight pointer, I guess."
Ignorant damn fool. Anybody that hunts has a very, very good memory of their biggest deer. There is no "I guess".
This ass has no clue of what it takes to be a sportsman/hunter or even how to talk to a sportsman/hunter.
My dislike for this limousine liberal brahmin has gone beyond a political disagreement. I actually loathe the sight of the son of a...well, you know.
bump
HMMMMM....Kerry seems more like the old Russian Leadership with each passing day.
It seems that he feels that he can have all.....and we the people can have nothing.
Okay. Parsing that statement (and you really have to do that with Democrats), I find nothing in it that is actually saying he owns any such thing.
Since he claims to have been a Naval Officer (in Vietnam), he should certainly know exactly what an assault rifle is, but I don't think he has one, demilled or otherwise.
