Good post, with a couple of recommended additions:

Where you mention the "antiwar movement" you are unconsciously echoing the deception that political movement used as its cover: it was a pro-enemy movement (why else would the 'demonstrators' carry the enemy's flags and chant "Ho, Ho, Ho Chi Minh, the NLF is going to win"?). It was also an anti-US government movement, but it was never an 'antiwar' movement. They thought that wars were just fine when the Sovs or their satellites were attacking their neighbors or sponsoring violence through surrogates.

You also left out Jane Fonda's propaganda broadcasts on Radio Hanoi, exhorting our troops to "lay down their arms and rally to the NLF".

Another poster obliquely referred to her claims that the US was "bombing the Red River dikes to flood the lands and to cause genocide against the Vietnamese" after her visit to North Vietnam in 1971. That was lie and she knew it - we were attacking the POL loading docks on top of those dikes, a legitimate target, since those fuels and lubricants were on their way through the Mu Gia Pass to the Ho Chi Minh trail at the time. If we were attacking dikes, we would have used torpedoes or hydrostatic mines to knock the dams out. Nobody was taking any chances at all of flooding those lowlands and drowning people.

She served as a knowing mouthpiece for our enemies and betrayed her country. She should have been tried for treason.

So now she cares about what Henry wants, eh? Henry Fonda was a WWII vet who referred to Hanoi as his "alleged" daughter after her activities in Vietnam. She didn't give a damn what he wanted then but I guess now that he's dead he can't contradict her stories.

I think the point of the first post is that it *all* is dad's fault. That's the femitwit perspective on everything that goes wrong.

I actually threw that at a sewer diver a while back. Told it I was pro choice and anti-hippie scum. For some reason it didn't celebrate my diverse point of view... :)

Jane may be hated by a goodly percentage of the population, but she's always welcome in Hollywood.

So her apology to the Vietnam Vets was insincere?

>>>Per a message I read here today, Jane Fonda was directly responsible for the death of three prisoners following her visit to a Hanoi military prison.

Are you able to ping me to that thread please? THANKS!

"As the American POWs returned home in 1973, they spoke out about the inhumane treatment and torture they had suffered as prisoners of war. Their stories directly contradicted Jane Fonda's earlier statements of 1972. Some of the American POWs such as Senator John McCain, a former Presidential candidate, stated that he was tortured by his guards for refusing to meet with Jane Fonda and her group. Jane Fonda, in her response to these new allegations, referred to the returning POWs as being "hypocrites and liars."

Strategy emerging here? Kerry recently moves to left on Iraq war. Fonda is trotted out to play to those presumably already on the left.

Is Kerry abandoning undecideds in the middle, and instead focusing on energizing heretofore unmotivated voters in his base, especially those on far left who may have been put off by his earlier tacit (albeit wildly inconsistent)support of the war?

'Hanoi Jane' Fonda is teaming up with a leading anti-Bush 527 group in a bid to register millions of women voters to cast their ballots for her old anti-war protest partner, John Kerry.

Can they do joint campaign appearances now, huh ?
Can they ? Can they ? Huh ? Please. Can they ? Can they ?

I will probably get flamed for this, but Jane Fonda has apologized at least twice for what she did during the Viet Nam war. So why should she not be forgiven? Which one of us has never done something we wish we had not done? Granted, what she did had great implications. But to hate her today for something she did 30 years ago is senseless.

I at least have to say this in her defense - at least she apologized. Where is Kerry's apology?

Okay - let the flames begin.

Not a problem. I certainly hope that it is true, and if it is that she is "sold out" to Christ (instead of the VC). She should still face consequences for her actions - but I for one cannot wish anyone to Hell (as much as I might think they deserve it). The last thing Christianity needs is another "celebrity Christian" that is undistinguishable from the run-of-the-mill "Hedonist Hollywood" types.

I'm a Democrat. My father would strike me dead from the heavens if I ever voted for a Republican. Ted could never understand: "You've never voted for a Republican?" I can't do that to my father, who was a yellow dog Democrat. What can I say?

That's BS. She says that as if she's backing the kerry because of what her father thought. Why doesn't she just come out and say that she supports kerry because he is a socialist?

I agree with you with the condition that the apology was sincere and was based on true repentance. "Repent" actually came from a military term that meant to turn around and go the opposite direction. The Biblical definition means "to change one's mind for the better, heartily to amend with abhorrence of one's past sins." Based on quotes in the media I don't see that's she's made this kind of "turnaround". Of course, this opinion (stress on opinion) of mine could be wrong. Only God truly knows, but we should see some signs of this kind of conviction.
