Thought a thread in Breaking News for the weekend covering Hurricane Jeanne would be a good thing. Post your link, pics, updates and freeper check-in's here
Yeah, I forgot about that.
Then when we got power back on, they lost theirs for two days (with Frances).
We shipped them out of town to my sister's during Ivan, because we didn't want them to be without power again (the heat seems to be hard on the elderly.)
My niece and her family only live a couple blocks from us and they were without power for 5 days during Frances, and last I checked were still without power since this AM.
My sis lives two doors from us, and neither of us lost power...just blips.
Go figure, I'm amazed we kept power. There has been lots of tree triming by the power company since the last storm, so I'm very grateful they had the foresight to not only restore the lines last time, but cut the trees away from the lines while they were up there restoring the lines.
Looks like somewhere near Chesapeake Bay.
Cool about the dinghy and glad you are OK.
So, with the grapefruits, etc., it's probably time for another hurricane salad!
Thanking my lucky stars that we got away with it again here in So Florida, for sure.
**ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
TUESDAY.
FORECASTER STEWART**
For a change.
Lights just came on. :-)
Everybody ok?
15 cups pecans, shells cracked
12 grounded grapefruit
10 cups Avocados, bruised
11 cups tossed tangelos
Blend all ingredients, wait for the next hurricane... serve in the dark
Glad you're all right. How bad was it down there?
Yo! Naughty Nurse! Hope you and yours (and your boats) survived yet another of Nature's Insults to Florida living!
We be fine. Some wind, lotta rain. Sporadic power outages.
FReegards,
FRank
Thanks for the tips re: Fernandina Beach.
If I can't get it in my travel trailer, I don't need it! LOL!
Where are you living now? Sounds like you got whacked by Jeanne much worse than we did here in Jax.
I"m in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area. We had winds up to 102 mph. Luckily I am 10 miles from the beach and so it wasn't as bad here.
Enjoy your vacation if you get your travel trailer.
Checking in, Ponte Vedra Beach. 5:30 am, the worst is over. Terrible night, about four tornado warnings, really high wind and rain, the rain was coming through the windows of our condo. Water under the front door. Power out twice but we've been lucky, it is on now. Trees down and debri all over he place.
My first hurricane and I hope to god my last. Still waiting on my transplant!
I was concerned about you. I'm glad the worst is over for you.
Now, all we need to do is get you your transplant!
WhooEeeee! 100kts is a lot of wind. I have flown airplanes that can't fly that fast!
Glad you and yours are OK!
FReeping on the generator right now -- power went out (again!) at 0330.
Whoops! Forgot to tell you that I already have a travel trailer -- 24' Trail Lite. A starter trailer: my fiance and I want to get a Class A motorhome, eventually. We plan to go see the USA!
Glad you survived your first hurricane, albeit slightly damp.
Sounds like you got hit a lot harder than we did -- we are on Southside, near Bolles school. Save the power outage (I am FReeping on generator electricity), we fared rather well -- 50-60 kt wind and a lotta rain.
HST, Frances cost us a magnificent old (100++ feet tall) Hickory tree (and $3500 for removal, plus the FRont yard damage done by the city when they used the wrong FRont end loader to cart the carcass off), but the upside is that we will no longer have to cope with the dang hickory nuts every year -- no, they are not edible!
Hope your day today is better than yesterday.
Prayers up for you re: the transplant. Please keep us informed.
