Bush-Cheney '04 Announces New African American Radio Buy
George W. Bush ^ | September 24, 2004

Posted on 09/24/2004 4:51:28 PM PDT by RWR8189

ARLINGTON, VA - Today, Bush-Cheney '04 announced the release of the campaign's newest radio ad, "Values."  The 60-second ad highlights the commitment of the President and Congressional leaders to honoring the values of faith, economic opportunity and educational excellence that are so dear to the hearts of African Americans across our country. “Values” is being broadcast on African American radio stations in Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.  This is the campaign's second African American radio buy.  The first ad, "Very Busy Man", ran in Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin in July.

To listen to the ad, please visit http://www.georgewbush.com/VideoAndAudio/

Script for "Values"

VO:
I love my husband and I'm proud of him, but that doesn't mean we always agree on every issue.  But we do agree when it comes to the most important issues... providing a better education and life for my kids.

So as I've thought about this election... I realized I'm tired of being taken for granted by John Kerry and his allies in Congress...
And while I don't always agree with President Bush and our leaders in Congress, I do find myself agreeing with them on the values that are most important to my family...
Equal opportunity... to choose a better school and free my children from our failing neighborhood school... support for our faith based organizations we turn to, to help people around here in times of need...tax relief for our hard-working family... tax relief that's actually allowed us to put college money away for our kids, which we could never do before.
These are the things that matter most to my family and why I'm supporting our leaders in Congress... and President Bush.

President Bush:
I'm George W. Bush and I approve this message.

VO:
Paid for by Bush-Cheney '04, Inc. and the Republican National Committee.

Hm. A little apologetic-sounding. Think it'll work?

"It's all designed to suppress the black vote, of course," I can hear black leaders saying.

All I can say is, it's about time the Bush/Cheney campaign started campaigning in the black market. You'll notice it avoided pandering, but simply appealed to those same values and aspirations we all hold self-evident and stands in marked contrast to that ugly, insulting, paranoia-tinged ebonics-laden, "40-and-a-blunt" style ad the Media Fund excreted recently (and which has been getting heavy rotation on talk radio).

About freaking time!

Kerry's support from the Black community is a mile wide and an inch deep. Let him work for those votes.

THANK GOD! If Bush can win 20% of the African-American vote in Philadelphia, Kerry doesn't have a prayer in hell in this state.

I don't think you understand the degree of animosity and acrimony toward Bush even among middle class blacks.Give the Bush-Cheney team a plus for making the effort but the Demo machine will end up getting 95% of the AA vote.
Not trying to be negative, just realistic.

A little apologetic-sounding.

It doesn't come across that way to me. "I realized I'm tired of being taken for granted by John Kerry and his allies in Congress..."

BTW, that "and his allies in Congress"... apparently Bush figured out a loophole in McCain Feingold where he can spend unlimited money on Kerry bashing ads if he includes the words "and his allies in Congress."

I live in a middle class neighborhood outside of Detroit...and have a black family next door. They have a Bush/Cheney sign in their yard! :-) I truly think Bush will get more of the black vote this time around. Even if it is 1% more.

So we should just write them off? How is that going to decrease animosity and acrimony? Bush has a much better Civil Rights record than Kerry.

Not unlimited, but it does just about double the amount of money he can spend.

In a sense they are right. Given the "black leaders" don't consider one "black" if they support a Republican. Kind of like the old Dixiecrats didn't think you were a good white person if you supported a Republican. When are the Democrats going to finally get past their racism?

Not trying to be negative, just realistic.

So you think that gearing the conservative message toward black America is a waste?

You must crawl before you walk. A gain of even one percentage point among black voters is a victory for black GOP outreach as far as I'm concerned.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

One of my favorite radio stations in Long Beach/Los Angeles area is FM 88.1 KKJZ. Excellent Jazz and Blues.

Occasionally the dialogue sounds to be directed towards black folks, who no doubt enjoy these music styles.

Maybe this is what they mean by "African American Radio." I'll be listening for Bush ads.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that GWB takes more of the Black vote than Reagan did.

Remember a few weeks back when several black preachers in the Bay Area came out for Bush....It all had to do with values, marriage and abortion. ALso this summer the protest against JJ in Chicago....Times are a changing.
