I'm a novice when it comes to computer drivers, cables, etc. and need some help. I have a Kodak 3400 digital camera, just took a bunch of pictures. Went into my Photo software and clicked on Edit, Twain Acquire. I get a little box that states "Invalid Class String". When I click OK (no other choice), it goes back to my main page Photo page. The camera is connected.
I went to the Kodak webpage and downloaded the updated software. I don't know what a Twain is and I don't know what/where my drivers are. Any help is greatly appreciated!
If you are not using XP, you will have camera software to install.

Really.
Does your camera use memory cards that can be removed, or does it plug into a USB port. Usb ports usually show up as drives in explorer.
TWAIN was developed for scanners.
What is your operating system?
Ought to be able to plug in the camera (I think have it "on") to USB and the PC will etect it as a new drive letter; look in "my computer" or "windows explorer" after you plug it in. Is there a new drive letter for it?
Urban legend. It was not an acronym, although what you claim might as well be the truth, because everyone believes it.
Your Photo Software is expecting to find a scanner, hence the Twain error.
It's an election year. Wake up.
TWAIN is the wrong option. Go to Kodak's web site and download their camera and photo management software.
Some legend. It came with the software for my first scanner, 6(8?) years ago.
If you have a photo card in the camera and your printer has a place to plug it in you can get the pictures onto your hard drive for now.
Next check with Kodak online and see if your camera is compatible with their new EasyShare software. If it is download it but uninstall what you were trying to connect your camera with. Then install Easyshare, reboot and try to connect your camera again!
I suspect someone asked what it stood for and the authors made something up. UNIX doesn't mean anything either. My first TWAIN scanner goes bach to 1994. Your acronym is at least that old.

I struggled, and struggled with this problem (not using XP). My computer would never recognize the camera when I plugged it in to the USB port. I did tons of downloading the Kodak software, wiping it clean, and then re-installing. No help.
My solution was much more efficient. I purchased a card reader that fit into my 3.5 drive, about 12 -14 bucks. Then, purchased a 40 or 60 MB card for about $40. Voila. Computer recognizes the card reader in the 3.5 drive, and I just plug my card in when I need to read it. Plus, the internal storage capacity is not enough to really be of use.
