I love it when people have their priorities straight.

Who besides John Kerry and Lovey is this going to affect?

They comprise the Donald Duck constituency. They all live in a yellow submarine.

And yet, I'm sure to these people, abortion is a sacrament.

mechanically inducing disease in a bird by forcing a pipe down its throat and making it consume such an abnormal quantity of food that its liver expands many times its normal size." This is gross!!

Should be banned simply because it's a "French delicacy".
To: apackof2
What crazy Frenchman came up with the idea in the first place, that's what I want to know.

Sir Paul McCartney has urged California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to ban the French delicacy foie gras. This on the heels of the California ban on hand-weeding. Now we're banning French food made of livers.
Fruits, nuts and flakes. Heavy on the nuts.

I wouldn't ever pass or even support a law banning something like this, but it is so utterly inhumane it sickens me every time I hear about it. I'm no PETA activist, but I do believe that we should make an effort not to cause unnecessary pain or suffering to an animal. Who are the people who actually physically do this to the bird?
To: RetroSexual
I'll surrender my foie gras when they pull in from my butler's cold, dead hands.
To: undeniable logic
Bingo - we are better people if we do not so needlessly torture an animal. THis is sick.
To: Prime Choice
Well, there are better things to champion, certainly, but I also think animal cruelty should be halted whenever possible. This is a good case in point. I'm not talking about going to extremes (I enjoy my hamburgers, thank you!), but I'm also pretty much against the idea of veal because I think it's cruel. Perspective in all things.
To: Prime Choice
No, it was a ban on short hoes. Foie gras are the weeds that are removed by hand.
To: Hegewisch Dupa
I gotta say, I'm with Paul on this one. Besides, it's French.
