The CBS scandal gets worse every day. Now, in an amazing twist, Michael Isikoff of Newsweek was on Chris Matthews' MSNBC "Hardball" show on Wednesday night claiming that CBS had been planning to air a story about the White House using forged documents to make the case for war against Iraq. CBS postponed the story so it could go on the air attacking President Bush on the National Guard issue. It backfired when 60 Minutes itself got caught using forged documents. Still, Isikoff indicates that 60 Minutes is planning to air the anti-Bush piece, perhaps as early as Sunday night, September 26.
There is only one big problemthe anti-Bush story, as described by Isikoff and eagerly embraced by Democrat partisan Matthews, is completely false. It's as phony as those National Guard documents.
The Iraq-uranium link, the subject of much media misinformation, has been documented and confirmed by authoritative reports from Britain's Lord Butler, who had been a cabinet secretary under five different Prime Ministers, and the Senate Intelligence Committee.
In an article on the Newsweek website, Isikoff claims that 60 Minutes had originally planed to run a story about "how the U.S. government was snookered by forged documents purporting to show Iraqi efforts to purchase uranium from Niger." Isikoff says the story, narrated by CBS correspondent Ed Bradley, "asked tough questions about how the White House came to embrace the fraudulent documents and why administration officials chose to include a 16-word reference to the questionable uranium purchase in President Bush's 2003 State of the Union." Isikoff says 60 Minutes has been working on the story for more than six months.

I agree. It's part of the communist infiltration plans. I've read it right here on FR. Sorry, don't have a link handy but if you can't find it, FReepmail me and I'll provide one later. I'm a little busy at present and shouldn't even be on the computer. :)
This has been the Old Media's plan all along - to influence the election with a partisan misuse of the air waves. CBS will not let a professional disgrace and possible criminal act get in the way of what their REAL objective is.
CBS feels that they have set up their little panel to investigate and now they can get on to business as usual with helping the DNC.
Well, if you believe this, enjoy your boycott...but my guess is, that not much will change. I certainly will continue to watch whatever I want, and I would guess that millions of others will also.
I wonder if this was part of the plan hatched by the Democrats / Rockefeller Memo.
I saw a short clip on Hannity & Whats~His~name the other night, but just the 10 seconds of Blather interrupting Mr. Bush with the "I'll take that as a no."
I would love to see the whole exchange (sorry, but I didn't see it when it aired because my personal boycott of cBS goes back THAT FAR!).
CBS getting on my last nerve.
actually not forgeries.
COUNTERFITS.
Forgeries implyes the data within is true, FRAUDS is much better because NOTHING is true from CBS.
"Bring it on! These guys have already dug a six foot grave, I guess digging down another foot or so won't hurt."
Word of advice to CBS - The first rule when you find yourself in a hole is to stop digging.
The Facts:
1- Forged documents DID exist, but no-one knew about them until much later.
2- President Bush's decision was based on other factors, not the forged documents. (The facts affecting his decision included: The fact that Iraqi officials visited Niger--a country who's number 1 export is uranium--in 1999; Intelligence accumulated from several countries, including the UK; Saddam Hussein's unwillingness to cooperate; and a report by turncoat ex-CIA director Joe Wilson.)
3- President Bush never said there was evidence of a purchase, he only said Hussein "sought" uranium.
CBS is just trying to push the "Bush lied" agendum at any cost.
"I'm sure many others agree with me. I hope they make their feelings known to their cable companies."
Four years ago in March, I really let our local/national cable company know my feelings. I cancelled our cable and went to Dish to get Fox News. 12 fellow conservatives did this in two days after months of trying to get the cable company to carry Fox News.
We carried our cable receivers in with our signed letter demanding cancellation of the cable service. We did that over a two day period. The manager refused to see any of us or talk to us. The poor lady who handled this, made the understament of the decade, "It is obvious that you are upset with us not carrying Fox News!"
At that time our cable was an AT&T owned company. I threatened AT & T with cancellation of our credit card and the use of AT & T on long distance services. We got some snide replies back that basically said "Stuff it!".
Then, we cancelled the credit card and went to another long distance phone provider.
We love Dish, don't miss the credit card, and are saving a ton of money with a different long distance provider.
Does CBS ever do an anti Kerry add?
The Newsweek article was posted the other day and I posted the usual refutation.
The segment was going to be hosted by Ed Bradley and was going with the old and disproven lie that President Bush and the administration relied on forged documents and was going to hark back to the "sixteen words" in the SOTU speech.
Further, Isikoff said liberal blogger Josh Marhshall was consulting on this. I believe Marshall keeps in contact with the odious Joe Wilson, hence Wilson was the advisor for the CBS hit piece.
Of course Newsweek does not point to any problems with this reporting CBS was set to do. No, they reported it in approving fashion as if it was fact based and noted that CBS staffers were glum because Dan's piece now made it hard for CBS to raise an eyebrown over the WH being "fooled" by forged documents (of course, the WH was not fooled by any forged documents).
More evidence that the media, in this case CBS and Newsweek's uncritical coverage of what they were preparing to "report" propaganda against George W. Bush.
The media's complete disregard for the factual state of the record in their mission to attack and bring down President Bush is disgusting.
Communist traitors.
Oh come on and tell me what you really think!
LOL
If someone has access to Rush 24/7 archive, Rush is BOUND to have this topic covered.
I hope the FBI has had those involved in this scam under surveillance for a time now. I wondered why we never heard more about the Rockefeller Memo, and their intent to mislead the public to start an investigation.. but it went quiet very very fast. I do remember that creating shockwaves the SIC would politicize intel no matter how much it hurt operations on the ground, to bring the President down. So, my hope, is that these people will be rounded up quickly. It's gone on long enough don't you think??
YW Bikepacker!! :)
Let 'em keep digging, maybe they will take down the whole of the news media............
