Did Kerry Lie about Attending the Signing of the Gulf-War Ceasefire

I just watched the rerun of O'Reilly's 2001 interview with Kerry discussing the need to invade Iraq. In that interview, Kerry said the following: "I mean, I was in Safwan. I went there when the signing of the armistice took place at the end of the war." I've watched the video of the cease-fire signing at Safwan. It was still in a combat zone. I don't remember seeing anyone but military officers. Can anyone provide additional insight, or has Kerry lied again.

"Kerry places himself in places where something actually occurs..."
Maybe he thinks himself some kind of Forrest Gump.

I have Schwarzkopf's bio, as well as Fred Franks' book w/ Tom Clancy, "Into the Storm". I'll start looking into the Safwan sections of both to see if they mention Kerry...

I kind of doubt he was anywhere near the place. From the time hostilities ended until that armistice was signed wouldn't have allowed for a plane trip from the States into a SAFE area (like Saudi), and then a ride up to the meeting beyond the front lines? I see what you mean.

My understanding is that the Safwan party consisted only of military officers lead by General H. Norman Schwartzkopf. I suggest we check the pictures in "It Doesn't Take a Hero" of the signing. I think it would be difficult for Liveshot to have mananged not to throw himself in front of a camera lens. There must be a FReeper who could as Gen. Schwarzkopf personally if Kerry was there.

Kerry lied again! To begin with he did not support that war, he voted NAY!

Kerry voted in the Senate on March 6.

That's series. Maybe he was whering hugh lips.

I don't see why not. But, having said that, it's easier to see who was and was not at the signing. As the area in question was still under Iraqi control, no commander in the world would be silly enough to allow some junior senator to be exposed to hostile fire and possibly ruin an otherwise spotless (as in Schwartzkopfs case) career. Even an opportunist like gigilo john.

I have a friend who claimed he was there, but he has pictures to prove it. I wonder if Kerry took any pictures? Shoot. Kerry probably has reams of 8mm film putiing him _somewhere!_

I cannot imagine JFKerry being anywhere near any part of Iraq, didn't Stormin Norman have some choice words to say about Vietnam prior to this war? Why would he allow somebody like JFKerry anywhere near that place?
To: Adrastus
You guys aren't being fair! If Kerry said he was there, then he was there, and Dan Rather will prove it no matter what it takes. :-)
