Cheney Blasts Kerry for Allawi Comments By MARGARET STAFFORD ASSOCIATED PRESS
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) -
Vice President Dick Cheney chastised Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry on Thursday, saying his criticism of Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi showed an appalling "lack of respect."
Allawi, who was in Washington on Thursday to address a joint meeting of Congress and meet with President Bush, gave a rosy portrayal of progress toward peace in his country. Shortly after he spoke, Kerry said the prime minister's assessment contradicted his own previous statements as well as the reality on the ground.
Cheney said Kerry was being disrespectful of a man who had survived an attack by Saddam Hussein's assassins.
"I must say I was appalled at the complete lack of respect Senator Kerry showed for this man of courage, when he rushed to hold a press conference and attack the prime minister, a man America must stand beside to defeat the terrorists," Cheney told several thousand supporters.
"John Kerry is trying to tear down all the good that has been accomplished, and his words are destructive to our effort in Iraq and in the global war on terror," Cheney said. "As Prime Minister Allawi said in his speech, and I quote, 'When political leaders sound the siren of defeatism in the face of terrorism, it only encourages more violence.' End quote."
Cheney said Kerry has changed his position on the Iraq war many times and that voters face a clear choice on Nov. 2 between Bush's "steadfast leadership and clear determination" and Kerry, "who seems to adopt a new position every day."
The audience mocked Kerry with chants of "flip-flop! flip-flop!"
Michael Golden, a Kerry spokesman in Missouri, said Kerry was simply telling the truth about the situation in Iraq.
"He is leveling with the American people," Golden said. "That is what we need in a president."
Kerry, who was in Ohio on Thursday, said of Allawi: "I think the prime minister is obviously contradicting his own statement of a few days ago, where he said the terrorists are pouring into the country. The prime minister and the president are here obviously to put their best face on the policy, but the fact is that the CIA estimates, the reporting, the ground operations and the troops all tell a different story."
Good for Cheney! Kerry was pretty crass in his timing.
Shocking, really. He slapped Allawi in the face.
treason
Kerry's speech today was outrageous. He is a yellow traitor and will never change. What is that weird thing that Kerry does with his tongue when he talks. I can't stand looking at him. He looks like a snake-for real.
On PBS, Allawi pointedly told Jim Lehrer that those who spread only the negative about Iraq are providing oxygen to terrorists.
He's the same character the Swifties rightfully despise. I am ashamed for the Democratic party that this is the best they have to show to the world.
George McGovern has been reincarnated as Kerry.
Cheney can get away with scolding Kerry. After all, isn't that what the little man Edwards has been doing to Cheney? All is fair in love and war.
Except it's worse, because we are in a death match now with animals who would happily behead us all. For Kerry to demoralize the country, and our troops, now, is beyond the pale. And to do so in Allawi's face, it's just an outrage.
And THIS wants to be POTUS?
john kerry's life proves the correctness of an old saying, "MONEY CAN'T BUY CLASS".
So Kerry disses countries who join us in the War on Terror, and vows to woo countries who've abandoned us, asserting it was our fault for not capitulating to them.
What was it we're not supposed to learn from those Swift-Boat ads again?
How would Kerry know? He doesn't go to the Intelligence committee meetings, and he hasn't been to Iraq. Plus, it's a great way to build a coalition by slapping your allies in the face. Right John?
Kerry is such a dick head.

"John Kerry is trying to tear down all the good that has been accomplished"
Pretty much sums up the whole Democrat Party Platform.
A patter with Kerry
Kaptain Ketchup can go screw himself.
Is this Kerry 1972 or Kerry 2004? The guys hasn't changed his tune in 30 years. The Vietnam flashbacks are getting really bad.
Andropov said, wisely, "Now all we have to do is to keep the Vietnam-era anti-Americanism alive.
One of the major problems Liberals have with running campaigns, let alone Wars; is that they are incapable of delegating. They have been programed to believe that the Communist Centralized Planning model is the only way to organize anything. This is why they believe that the Gummit is better at spending the Countrys money than we are. When they become Candidates for a national office like President they cannot take advice and have their hands on everything. The reports of Yaaaawn writing his own run-on speeches is proof of that weakness.
No political advisor with 2 firing brain cells would have told Yaaaaawn to go out and attack the Prime Minister of Iraq. This is a truly historic disgrace of epic proportions. Kerry went out on his own because the PM gave him a minor shot about Yaaaawn always downplaying our successes and turning them into failures to the benefit of our enemies. In response Kerry goes ballistic and accuses a leader of a newly freed country a liar...Monumental!! Nobody on that Rubber Bus would have suggested anybody in America do this. Only the knee-jerk; heavy on the jerk, Candidate.
Prime Minister Allawi is a man of integrity and bravery that can be matched by very few men in World History. This man defied Saddamn and received an axe to the head. His name is number 1 on the Terrorist hit list in a country filled with terrorist scum. His death will bring a month of celebration in the turd century pit, and Kerry has the mentality to degrade and disrespect this man. This amounts to calling Lech Lewensa a lying coward in Poland during the Soviet crackdown.
How can he do this utterly despicable action. Easy for him, he hates America! During Vietnam, which is his entirety he falsely accused the South Govt as a puppet of the United States. He vilified and degraded that Govt during the last years of the war while he professed the Communists in N. Vietnam as the liberators and freedom fighters. The liberators ended up murdering over 10 million innocents after Kerry coerced Peace with Honor. So attacking Iraqs new Govt is the only thing he knows. His strategy is to disgrace the bravery of the countrys officials who are being murdered for taking a stand to freedom.
His next step in Vietnam was to attack our soldiers after he declared the newly formed Govt illegitimate. He declared the war illegal and the wrong war, at the wrong time in the wrong place. If the war is wrong than it is obvious that our soldiers are fighting the wrong war. This is his sick strategy and why he was a traitor then and is a traitor now. And yes Yaaaawn I am questioning your patriotism, which is what you do to people who betray their country.
If this man will not stand shoulder to shoulder to a MAN like Allwai than who will he stand with. Allawi is the George Washington of Iraq. The only difference was Washington only had to fight the British while Allawi has to fight barbaric animals from a dozen neighboring viper dens. If Kerry doesnt understand the honor of freeing 25 million people from a tyrant who had already killed nearly a half million people, then he will never understand. The leaders John Kerry will stand shoulder to shoulder are Ho Chi Min 10-15 million murders, Lenin-Gorbachev 50 million murdered, Fidel Castro 1 million murders, Daniel Ortega 20,000 murders, Pol Pots Khmer Rouge 3 million murders, Yasser Arafat 1000s of murders. John Kerrys favorite leaders does have a pattern which helps explain his admiration for Saddamns brutal regime.
For Kerry, Prime Minister Allawi just doesnt have what it takes.
Pray for W and Our Troops
