BANGOR, Maine, Sept. 23 -- It had been a pretty glum day for Spec. Brian Parker, who along with the other members of his National Guard unit said goodbye to their families and departed on a charter flight for a long-term stint in Iraq. But then, on a refueling stop here, a familiar figure boarded the plane. "We were down when we left our families," Parker said, giving a thumbs down. "But then we heard Air Force One was here. It's a good morale boost." Thursday's Question: Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi delivered a speech to a joint meeting of Congress today. For the troops, grimly heading toward an 18-to-24-month assignment in Iraq, it was a welcome lift. For Bush, who has been accusing his Democratic presidential opponent, Sen. John F. Kerry, of demoralizing the troops in Iraq by criticizing the war effort, it was a chance to demonstrate his devotion to the troops. "May God bless you all," the commander in chief said over the plane's public address system. "May God keep you safe." ...

Your post sums it up perfectly.
What was the situation with that Kerry Pic?
I'm glad to see the WaPo giving this some much needed coverage.
Later in the article it mentions that the president donned a suit coat and tie to meet these troops. What a show of respect! I love GWB!
BTW, sKerry did the same tarmac hair styling trick as Slick Willy.
What a decent and caring man this guy is! He really goes out of his way to thank the troops and take time to meet everyone!
God bless him. I'm proud he is my President.
YES! He truly is a leader, and a decent one at that too.
I sure love our President. God bless him.
Dubya is a class act! Kerry can't fake that.

ProtectOurFreedom just wrote an ad for our next FReepathon! ;)
Pleeeaaasse don't let Kerry become our CiC. It brings me depression to even think America would ever let that low life Kerry replace our current honorable President. Politics affect the morale of the military, and we survived Clinton only on the stored up energy and vitality given to us by Bush 41 and the Gipper. Clinton was a disaster along with his dufus SecState Madame Secretary Albright (she no kidding made that up, didn't she). These photos show the class and caring of this man. Kerry spit on the military in the 70's, time for payback Mr. Kerry.
OK, I only got this far until the tears made it hard to read.
WHOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Yeah!
You just know this was from GW all the way! Beautiful!
God bless this wonderful man and his inspirational gesture! What a President! BTTT The troops must be feeling good!
