Newman lookalike may be a loose cannon with no loyalties who's capable of exposing the whole dirty business. Unfortunately, he's got a big honcho lawyer David Van Operating System whose main gig is to protect his other clients against such uncontrollable feral creatures. Didn't Operating System just file a lawsuit on behalf of Newman against See-BS which filing would in effect put all the evidence in the case inside a lockbox (oh, thanks, Al Gore for that invention!) until after the election?!

I'm searching for a post that detailed Max Cleland's recent travels through Texas.

If he's smart, he's made tape-recordings up the Whazzoooh by now, and hired a half dozen bodyguards.

Do you see Jim Rassmann in this picture anywhere? After all, he did show up in Crawford with Cleland.

AND, since Abilene has a small airport, it is possible that they flew into Abilene and met with Burkett BEFORE or AFTER the infamous staged Crawford delivery.

AND -- I hate to bring these guys up...but the Clintons GOTTA be mixed up in this somehow. Lockhart, Carville, and der Schliekmeister are pretty thick...hmmm...thinking...

Maybe we should all be "remembering" how the Clinton staff (as evidenced in Clinton's words himself) used specific words that could throw everyone off. What is said that you THINK you hear is not actually what is said with these folk. For example, to say "We did not talk about the memos" MIGHT mean "We did not talk about those pieces of paper in that conversation; h-o-w-e-v-e-r, I did hear all about how this little retired jerk from Texas was going to spill his guts and get us all in trouble...still, they are not asking if we talked about what we were going to do when our names were thrown up to the wind...they are asking if we talked about the MEMOS. Therefore, I can say we did NOT talk about the memos, and this would be an "accurate" statement--technically."

All that to say that one should analyze all statements from any Clinton people with the same scrutiny that we learned was needed in Clinton's speech during the Monica Lewinski timeframe.

Is this a possibility? (Just letting my mind wonder here.) Perhaps Kerry's camp, (ie Joe) knew all along about the papers--that Joe had those fake papers all along--knew about them--that these papers went FROM the Kerry camp (mayber Joe) TO one of their contacts in Texas (alias Lucy Ramirez) to THEN be passed on to a knowingly willing retired Texan who could be "encouraged" to pass this info on to CBS?

When the mud was about to fly, and this ole little-guy Texan began to realize he had been 'used' and that he was going to have a pretty hard and public battle, could he possibly have called a DNC or Kerry individual (maybe Joe) to vent his frustration and/or anger...maybe just to let them know the curtain was about to drop. Joe Lockhart would CERTAINLY want to take THAT conversation himself, should that be the case. That short conversation would have detailed the trouble about to come and suggestions on what to do next. No need to talk about any memos. Beyond that! (Now, what WERE Joe's words there?)

Just thinking...but DO remember to pull apart everything said to find what is REALLY said.

Now, here's the question. Do the Republicans keep after it until they have a smoking gun in the hands of a DemoRat (a safe bet if there ever was one), or do they wimp out after the election and let it drop?

When you have a jackal by the throat, you choke it to death. JMHO.

I can't find this story ANYWHERE. I searched Mercury News...nada. One of the posts referenced The Fort Worth Star but their story is reporting just the opposite of this headline.

Where is Drudge getting this?

As a former (retired) member of the TEXAS AIR National Guard, I do take some offence of him being refered to Air Nat'l Guard.

Lt. Col. Bill Burkett completed 28 years of decorated service and was medically retired from the US Army National Guard in 1998 after suffering meningoencephalitis on return from an assignment in Panama. From 1995 until his illness, Burkett served as State Plans Officer for the Texas Army National Guard and Governor George W. Bush. After refusing to follow direct orders involving falsifying readiness reports, Burkett sought "whistleblower" status for reports involving anti-Semitic activity; personnel fraud; readiness fraud and the alteration of the personal military file of Governor George W. Bush. Lt. Col. Burkett is currently the plaintiff in his appeal to the US Supreme Court in the case of Burkett v. Goodwin, Taliaferro, Meador, et al, in regard to the retaliation against him following breaking the Bush records issue. Lt. Col Burkett served as a War Plans Officer during Operation Desert Storm and functioned as a senior trainer in conducting simulations exercises for deploying troops.

Max Cleland's August 25th Road Trip Through Texas!

Max Cleland's schedule on August 25 in Texas needs to be fully examined. Cleland tried to deliver a letter to President Bush around 1pm in Crawford, followed immediately by a short press conference. When did he leave Texas, where did he leave from, and what did he do in the time in between?

Only days prior to Cleland's impromptu visit to Texas, he began discussions with Bill Burkett, who is now known to be CBS's source for the forged documents.

Later the same day of Cleland's Texas trip, Burkett announced in a rant to President Bush on the progressive onlinejournal that, "I know from your files that we have now reassembled, the fact that you did not fulfill your oath, taken when you were commissioned to 'obey the orders of the officers appointed over you'."

What time was this rant posted? Did Cleland help him write it? Who is the "we" Burkett is referring to concerning the documents being "reassembled"? Did Cleland help Burkett forge the documents on that day?

Crawford, Texas, where Cleland was at 1pm on August 25, is only 162 miles from Baird, Bill Burkett's home.

Did Cleland make a visit there that day?

Did someone in the Kerry campaign act as a middleman in passing along the information to CBS that Burkett had these documents?

Did someone in the Kerry campaign lobby CBS to use these documents or vouch for their authenticity?

CBS claimed that these documents came from "unimpeachable sources." Other than Burkett, who are the other sources? Why did CBS consider Burkett "unimpeachable"?

CBS must answer the question of how they learned that Burkett now had these memos. Did the discovery of these new documents play a part in Ben Barnes decision that he was now ready to talk to 60 Minutes on air, after Mary Mapes had long been urging him to do so? Is there a connection between this sudden change of heart by Barnes just two days before CBS hit "paydirt" with these forged documents? Did Ben Barnes see these documents even before CBS did?

Sorry, didn't realize I didn't finish my thought. (Got sidetracked by Scarborough).
Freepers and other bloggers have changed the equation. My concern is that the Rats and MSM will stall and put up smoke screens and the only ones who will know are those SEEKING the information. Just like the document fabrications were exposed, and brought to the attention of Media, we have to make sure that this doesn't get the band-aid and it is exposed for the hemorrhage that it is.

"Now, here's the question. Do the Republicans keep after it until they have a smoking gun...or do they wimp out"

Traditionally, the republicans wimp out a la Sandy Berger.

I say, destroy them politically and jump on the ashes. I mean, isn't this kind of corruption systemic and pervasive in organizations? This cancer reaches into the leadership of the democrat party.
