(AP) - A newstalk radio station in Norfolk has dumped CBS News because of listener outrage over the "60 Minutes" report questioning President Bush's National Guard service.
WNIS switched today to ABC News, after at least a dozen years with CBS News.
Lisa Sinclair is general manager of Sinclair Communications, which owns WNIS and four other stations in the Hampton Roads area. She says they made the change after getting many calls from listeners, some who said they wouldn't listen to CBS news any more.
CBS News said Monday it could not authenticate the documents used in the Bush story and apologized for airing it.
CBS spokesman Dana McClintock says the network has more than one thousand radio affiliates nationwide and that WNIS is the only one to drop CBS. None of the network's more than 200 television affiliates has done so.

Shoud we release the hounds?

True, and sometimes the others are waiting for someone to be the first to cross the line, and maybe more will follow now that it's been done. Hopefully viewers of the others will keep the heat on them.

Monday on 550 AM WKRC in Cincinnati they made an announcement right before the cBS/Dan Rather 5:00pm news update saying that in light of what CBS had done they were not going to broadcast the 5:00 update. While the update would have been airing, they played a repeated collage of:
1. "Liar" by 3 Dog Night
2. "Lies" by one of the 60's psychadelic groups (somebody help me I cant remember who that was)
3. A Nat King Cole (I think) song where he sang "Lie To Me" - dont know the name of that one either.
It was pretty funny.
I can't say for sure if they are still doing it - at least until I go home from work today..... :-)

"Lies" - most likely the hit by the Knickerbockers, one of the all-time garage classics IMHO. An amazing Beatles soundalike, considering they were a frat band from NJ!

Ask her how many affiliates they lost to Fox (back in '93 if memory serves), of how many went to the undesirable UHF's, (one being the Cleveland market going from channel 8 to 19).

Maybe we in Indiana, solid GOP country, should get WIBC to stop airing Dan the Man's news readings, too. MM?

A bit of improvement, perhaps. But ABC is hardly the bastion of fairness. Still, a good development. If a price is paid by CBS like this, ABC may clean up its act.
