John Kerry found himself speechless Wednesday, a serious predicament for a candidate for president.

The Des Moines Register reports: Laryngitis forced the Democratic nominee to dump plans to campaign in eastern Iowa today. Instead, his running mate, John Edwards, will take his place at a town hall-style event in Davenport and a rally in Cedar Rapids, campaign aides said.

Kerry "strained his voice. He's going to be resting his voice for the debate," said the candidate's Iowa spokesman, Colin Van Ostern.

The first of three nationally televised presidential campaign debates is Sept. 30 in Florida. The others follow quickly - Oct. 8 in St. Louis and Oct. 13 in Tempe, Ariz

He must not be too speechless as he's on TV now talking about something -- I couldn't watch; whenever he's on TV I flip the channel

Seems like he has a lot to say right now on FOX.

The ignorance of this b@stard to get up and basically call Allawi(sp) a liar. In such bad taste to our guest who just spoke to the Congress.

Well, he has made a miraculous recovery because he's on now licking his lips and saying the same crap, "I was in a war....I have a plan...I gave a speech in New York....I have a plan....tell the truth...Prime Minister is contradicting himself...tell the truth...I gave a speech in New York..."

"...and a rally in Cedar Rapids..."

Oh Boy! A good lungful of the air in "The City of 5 Smells" should clear his voice nicely.

It's been awhile, can anyone complete the list:

1) Quaker Oats
2) 3-Minute Oats
3) ADM
4) PenFord
5) ??

I think #5 is a meat packing plant but I'm not sure.

It's Bush's fault.

According to them, so is Hurricane Ivan.

I've believed for a long time that Kerry's health would start to suffer in the heat of the final weeks of this election. I just don't believe he has the physical and mental stamina for this race. A national election, constant travel, speech giving, perpetual stress. Think about how many breaks he's taken along the way. The primaries almost destroyed him, and this despite the fact that he basically coasted to victory as the default candidate. It ain't like running for the Senate in Massachusetts. (I just pray he survives to lose as big as he is going to lose on November 2nd.)

Glad to see you're lurking no longer.

He is such a moron. If the Bush team will let Bush "be himself" in the debates, he will tear him apart like a lion eating a wounded gazelle. If they try to overscript him, he's not as good.

Remember, Kerry was a prosecutor so he'll be tough. Bush is inherently more likeable and truthful though. I'd love it if he had a line like "Well, it's Monday, can you tell me your position on Iraq today Senator?"
