WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sen. Mark Dayton, D-Minn., plans to boycott Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi's appearance before Congress today.
Dayton described the speech as "a production" staged by the Bush administration and said that Allawi "ought to be over there running his country." Dayton made the remarks in a conference call with reporters Wednesday.

What a nasty little person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What it must take to "protest" a speech by a visiting head of state....
typical of my "senior" senator.
what an arse wipe.
Mark Dayton thinks the Iraqis are better off under Saddam Hussein. The good people of Minnesota should show him the door when his term's up.
When is mark dayton up for election? This Commie pinko really needs to be out of gubmint.
What a prick.
Dayton, not you.
Dayton....what an ignoramus!
Senator Marshall Fields...
2006. don't worry. We won't forget this and all of his other stances. He's waay out of touch with Minnesota. MN will go Bush in 2004 and in 2006, will have TWO GOP Senators!
An Iraqi Prime Minister comes to honor the American troops who died freeing his country of a brutal dictator and the left boycotts him. This would be like the German Prime minister coming to Washington after WWII and being booed and boycotted.
'Sear this, Sear this' in your memory and pocket books for 2006.
We intend to.
And Dayton may have just put a Minnesota in the landslide category for Bush.
Traitor!
Dayton's time comes up in two years. I would LOVE to see Wellstone's lapdog hit the bricks with all of his belongings tied to a stick in a hobo-like fashion as he leaves Washington. This goon essentially bought his senate seat from money out of his own coffers in order to defeat a damaged sitting senator (Grahm had a badboy son). I think I will e-mail his office and let him know what I think of his foolish decision.
APf
freekin bug eyed puppet on strings is what he is,someone in the DNC said it was his turn to stick his neck out,so he did.
Anyone know who we are countering him with in -06?
RonDog - Let's make sure Hugh and Powerline are aware of this. Let's get this to the blog trail and let em run with it.
Be realistic, Allawi's fate is very much tied to Bush's. If Kerry should win the likelihood of Allawi being alive in 5 years is greatly diminished. He is a smart guy. He knows who his friends are and he knows who his enemies are. He is supporting his friends because that is the best thing for him and the best thing for Iraq.
The Dems are on the wrong side in Iraq. They are providing, as is their custom, aid and comfort to our enemies and, I believe, they will pay the price for taking that position in November. The Bush plan in Iraq is working and Allawi is the proof.
I'm thinking maybe a Kennedy or Kline or a current GOP state legislator. I've also heard Kiffmeyer is interested.
