IRR Call-Up Update

As of Sep. 22, 2004, the U.S. Army Human Resources Command - St. Louis (HRC-STL) has sent Western Union Mailgram notifications to approximately 3,644 Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) Soldiers being mobilized in support of the Global War on Terror. The command began sending notifications July 6 under a planned 5,600 IRR Soldier call-up, occurring from approximately August to December 2004. Each Soldier will have a minimum of at least 30 days from notification prior to being required to report to a designated mobilization station.

I just saw this posted on the HRC website. As you need to have an AKO account, I can't provide a source URL that will work.

I wanted to get this posted to cut any rumors off at the knees about there being a "Secret" bush call-up plan.

Thanks.

We appreciate the service of these fine men and women who have agreed to stand and defend our country. Prayers for them and for their families, for whom the separation will be long and difficult (been there, done that).

I'm one of those on the "list" of critical skills and am waiting to get my notice.

Already been to the Sand-box. If I do get tagged, I hope it's Afganistan. New place-different folks.

Thank you for serving.

Cracks me up hearing from the original Afghanistan troops -- "sand, and more" sand. Afghanistan has become a budding oasis -- true, still with assaults periodically coming from "hostiles". Anyway, the original troops into Afghanistan, who built the roads, fought and destroyed bulk of Taliban.. feel they got short-shrifted as compared to those who went first to Iraq. News about progress in Afghanistan was given short-shrift by the MSM. And so, many who were core-first into Afghanistan were thrilled to be going into Iraq. If you do get called, I hope it is to Afghanistan too! It's more than just sand. Those mountain peaks are awesome. And the people? So sweet. And while focus has been on Iraq -- coalition & allies have been building Afghanistan. BTW, I've heard that "getting" a massage in Afghanistan is part and parcel of life there. These are NOT brothels.

Really quite smart, too. The massage will loosen up the body to enable it to better repel and rid "inhaled" sand.

Happy to be of service.

Well, If I do get to go to Afganistan, then I have something to look forward to!

Thanks.
