No word on if John Kerry or John Edwards showed up to vote.

Could this be taken as the Dems admitting that they don't believe Kerry will win the election?

(Other than that unfortunate incident with the hamster, Kerry has done nothing "heroic" in decades.)
To: numberonepal
Good. Now Porter, it's time for you to follow the example of our Marines and GET SOME!!

That's good. Now we have the guy who understands the need to reestablish a working covert network - Project Phoenix is desperately needed...

Now we don't have to worry about any NIE reports BSing about things being very bad in Iraq. We got a director on the Prez's side!

Of the 17 "no" votes, four are members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence: West Virginia Sen. Jay Rockefeller (search), the senior Democrat on the intelligence panel, and Sens. Carl Levin of Michigan, Ron Wyden of Oregon and Dick Durbin of Illinois. Opponents to Goss' nomination said he has too many Republican ties for a job that requires independence. No surprises here.

Porter Goss will do a great job as Director of Central Intelligence! Hopefully with Porter in place, we can forget the silly idea of adding an additional layer of intelligence bureaucracy but giving the Director the budget authority he has requested.
Your former constituents in Florida's 14th District thank you for your service!

I called Rockefeller's office yesterday and mentioned the documents he brought to the committee to prove that Goss was too partisan......told him to take those documents and SHOVE IT.

Another layer of bureaucracy.
Wasn't Ridge supposed to be 'that'? Wasn't that the purpose for creating the Homeland Security Department?
Too much bureaucracy and Gorelick's wall were the problems in the 1990's, leading up to 9-11-01.
So now we have another bureaucracy and 3 million illegals coming over the borders each year.

The vote was 77-17. What's that, lessee 94 Senators voted ... (100 - 94 = 6) So six guys didn't think the confirmation vote on the Director of Central Intelligence was an important vote. I wonder how many are Democrats? I know of at least two that are. Note to DU lurkers. Your guys don't think their votes count, so why should you. Just stay home on election day, git hiiiiiiigh, and cry about Bush winning. You wouldn't know how to deal with victory, anyway.

I watched on C-SPAN Rockefeller questioning Goss during the confirmation hearing and I thought he might actually vote for Goss. I should have known Rockefeller wouldn't see an urgency in confirming a knowledgeable, experienced, new DCI in a time of war.....even when his only reason for voting no apparently was that Goss has an (R) next to his name. Sickening.
To: numberonepal
He sounds like a good man for the job.
I hope he'll start out by cleaning house and getting rid of the clintonoids and the deadwood.
Before we hire any more people for the CIA, we need to straighten out the people who will do the hiring.
So far, the Bush administration has been very weak on the crucial business of cleaning out traitors and scum left over from the previous administration(s).
