WASHINGTON - Bowing to political realities, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) has canceled plans to begin broadcasting television commercials in Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana and the perennial battleground of Missouri.
The decision to shrink his political playing field reduces Kerry's strategic options at least for now in the homestretch of the campaign. George W. Bush won all four states in 2000, and Kerry can't win the White House without taking one or two of them away from the Republican incumbent.
The ads were scheduled to begin airing Oct. 5 as part of a $5 million investment through Nov. 2, but campaign advisers concluded Kerry isn't doing well enough in the states to justify the cost.

Nothing like retreating into a smaller and smaller area so your opponent can concentrate his artillery fire more effectively upon your pointy little heads...

YES! Ignore those polls which show these states in contention. Money talks, polls walk.

That statement doesnt make any sense.
Do those four states have magical powers or something?

Or, he can win Gore 2000 states plus WV and NH. Bush is in good shape now, but things can turn on a dime. So keep it up.
To: NewMediaFan
Not only will Kerry not win any RED states, he will lose BLUE states PA, WS, IA, NM, MN, and maybe even NJ to Dubya. He now also has to compete for CA and NY. With 5.5 weeks to go in this election, look for the Dems to start shifting money to protect Senate and House seats.

W's gonna win FL by 3 points this time.

These are the true death-clicks of the Kerry Kampaign. He is cutting back to smaller and smaller ground that he MUST win and is falling back to defensive positions. That is not a winning strategy.
