I was astounded to hear Rush today quote Jimmy Carter as calling for America to set a "date certain" for the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq. Carter said this is the best way to reduce the violence. Kerry testified 31 years ago that after meeting with the N. Vietnamese, we could have our POW's back if we announced a "date certain" for U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam.
I think the democrat campaign is morphing back to the 70's Kerry/ '04 Howard Dean unilateral withdrawal position. Announcing a "date certain" to leave Iraq will of course tell the terrorists the date they can launch an all out attack to take over Iraq and turn it into a dictatorship and mortal enemy of the United States. It will also turn the Middle East over to Islamic terrorists much the way IndoChina was overrun by the communists.
I'm also struck by the fact that Carter's wrongheaded abandonment of the Shah (actually, open hostility) turned a staunch ally Iran into the worst hotbed of international terrorism. Further, Carter/ Kerry's plan would now turn the American blood spent in Iraq into a red carpet permitting Iran to take over and spread its empire across the Middle East.
The policy announced today by Carter is pure anti-American insanity, and echos word for word the misguided policies of Kerry regarding Vietnam. The democrats are exposed for the fools and possibly the traitors they are.
knowing who we are fighting in Iraq, and what will happen if we leave in this way, there is something truly sick and immoral in the thinking of these left wing democrats. They care nothing about the interests of America, and they would gladly consign the Iraqi's to hell.
Jimmah, shut up.
(and watch out for killer bunnies.)
The GOP needs to highlight this about the Democrats - the similarities between the anti-Vietnam war movement and the anti-Iraq war movement.
It's unfortunate that a great many voters do not know who Jimmy Carter is, why he is the most failed President, how dispicable his appeasement is, how anti-American he has always been.
It just unfortunate!
Thank God!!! This is just what we've been waiting on...advice from Jimmy Carter on how to deal with terrorists?
Do the democrats really want to go there???
NOTE: I just saw on the Fox News channel Kerry at a rally in Florida, in the background behind him, was a IUPAT union guy wearing the IUPAT Tee shirt.
This is the same union that a IUPAT thug attacked the baby girl (remember the picture) and tore up her Bush/Cheney sign.
If anyone can catch a frame of that, it would be wonderful to juxtapose it with the IUPAT thug attacking the little girl, then joining him at the hip with Kerry via the union connection.
Every time Carter opens his mouth I think less of him, which is pretty hard since I think so little of him anyway. He does serve a purpose though. Whenever he says what we should do we can rule it out as a viable option. He's probably been wrong more often on more issues than any president in my lifetime.
And slamma hamma on both your thumb and tongue.
Holbrooke said: "The security situation is worse today in Iraq than it was when Senator Hagel and I served in Vietnam a century or two ago. It is -- we could walk around the cities of Vietnam freely day and night. In the Green Zone, as you just mentioned, in the Green Zone they're getting mortared."
Hagel also made a comparison: "The fact is a crisp, sharp analysis of our policies is required. We didn't do that in Vietnam, and we saw 11 years of casualties mount to the point where we finally lost."
And then, it was none other than Senator Ted Kennedy who said, "Iraq is George Bush's Vietnam."
Folks this was a long time in the making. However, we're all too happy to see Kerry, the anti-war Hero of Vietnam become the anti-war Zero of Iraq.
Hey jimmy, go eat a peanut.
If people as naive as Jimmy Carter can be elected president, Craker Jacks might just as well give away a complete set of White House keys in each 10 millionth box. We'd get a better President by dumb luck.
The worse result from the whole Watergate affair is that it gave us Jimmy Carter.
