Ordinary Americans have dragged slowly but surely other big institutions to the truth. The big institutions were the last to arrive at the truth and some of them to this moment are still not there.

Now I realize that within this new alternative media there exists some jealosy,. I sense that some people don’t want to give the blogosphere the full credit. They have to parcel it out because every body wants a piece of the action; this is quite normal, this is human nature. The fact of the matter is that it was the blogosphere and it was a couple of sites: Powerline and FreeRepublic. And FreeRepublic has been one of the most impugned blogs / websites in the history of websites by the very institution that has been brought down.

When Dan Rather talked about partisan political operatives, he means those who lurk at FreeRepublic. Who is FreeRepublic, it’s ordinary Americans – liberals look down at ordinary Americans, don’t know have enough decision making power, [?] do the right thing, not smart enough …

You don’t know how much it grates on them at CBS that its something like FreeRepublic or one of their chat rooms or one of the FReepers there or the Powerline … you have no idea that it irritates them that that kind of person brought them down. An average, ordinary untrained journalist that … you just do not know how this irritates them inside. More than the fact that they got caught, it’s who caught them that irritates them.

And, so just as I started out … I was a fad, and I was a liar, and I made it up and I was bad for America and I posed threats to democracy, as the cover of Time said. So now the same things are being said about the bloggers. Fox news has had its turn and we all continue rotating in the criticism carousel of the left.

I obviously don't know the specifics of what he was talking about, but I assume it's how the infamous post #47 got everyone to admit that Emperor Dan had no clothes. Who on Earth could think that MORE information and MORE fact-checking (and challenging of a media monopoly) would be a bad thing? Better ideas will push out bad ideas, and hoaxes will be revealed. (That's what I despise about "campaign finance reform" also - fight bad ideas with good ones, not by passing a law to silence them.) Of course, the MSM now has to compete and be accurate - something the conservatives have had to do for years.

It's not everyday that people like us gets to take part in the destruction of a major news organization. Let us take time to celebrate this ocassion then get back to work driving some final nails in cbs' coffin. We can not let up now. They are on the ropes and the final blows needs to be delivered. Congrats to FReepers for doing their part in this event. Also, thanks to Jim Robb for setting this site up for like-minded individuals to emote. There is no "mission acomplished" banners to be hung because the job isn't through. Ever foreward, troops. The enemy needs to be vanquished.

You know, at times there are some wacky ideas put froth on FR. But there is always a discussion about those and any ideas put forth. Most times these 'wacky' ideas are someone not phrasing their thoughts properly, or not having complete info. And even when the ideas are a little far gone, cooler heads prevail, and reason ends up ruling the conversation. But those with 'wacky' ideas are free to speak in this country and to ask questions in this country. 'Journalists' have not been afforded more free speech protection than anyone else in this country.

Ok, but shouldn't that have been said to rush when he was saying FR had a lot of CT kooks a couple of years ago?

I'm just glad Rush has seen the value of sites like this at getting news out.
