McCullough: KERRY DODGES REPORTERS, MEETS WITH "GAY PRESS" TWICE
WMCA - NEW YORK ^ | 9.22.2004

Posted on 09/22/2004 9:56:35 AM PDT by KMC1

For the last 50 plus days Senator John Kerry was "too busy" to answer questions from the press assigned to follow his campaign.

Somehow in this time however he found the time to do two seperate private interviews with "gay media". The interview with OutInAmerica happened on Sept 9th.

In it he admits to believing that the Constitutional Amendment to Protect marriage amounts to "gay-bashing" for political gain.

"It is up to the states (to define marriage), not the federal government. That's why I viewed the federal efforts, as specifically targeted, as gay bashing, because they were usurping into a territory that they didn't belong...So what they were doing (those arguing to protect marriage) was reaching, for poitical purposes, to drive a wedge. But it is within the rights of a state to define marriage. That's within state's rights."

Later in the same interview he makes it clear that in order to someday get to "gay marriage", Americans must tolerate incrementalism and be brought along the path until minds can be changed.

"...The presidency is the power of the bully pulpit to some degree, and you have to talk reasonably to people. Look - you have to begin at a beginning. It took us a long time to pass the civil rights law. There was a huge filibuster against it (by democrats). Now-a-days, people couldn't concieve of why did we fight about that. It took us a long time for women to get the right to vote in America. You have to fight for things. And pick a starting point and my starting point is to try to pass...hate crimes. And you begin to educate people, and hopefully you can change the climate and tone - its been very exploitive in the last year or so. And you lead."

You have to fight for things.

Why don't you try appeasement?

Great. This means for the next month we'll be subjected to more pictures or Kerry and Edwards making out.

I can't even imagine a challenging candidate for the President of the United States not answering questions from the press for almost two months just prior to the election. Unbelievable, and why isn't this a major story.

Minorities should be outraged at this comparison. This comment should be hammered upon.

Kerry meant "re-educate".

Gawd, the Kerrynistas are desperate!

Grasping at fecal-matter-covered straws.

I never ceases to amaze me how they pander to the 3% of the deviant population.

Ever since his press conference yesterday, I've been wondering exactly how many journalists were actually in the room asking questions and if they were the regular press that accompanies the campaign. It's obvious that they were told they couldn't ask questions about the CBS deal, so I'm wondering who they allowed in to ask him questions.

Clinton disgusted me, but this man makes my skin crawl.

"It is up to the states (to define marriage regulate abortion), not the federal government. That's why I viewed the federal efforts, as specifically targeted, as gay faith bashing, because they were usurping into a territory that they didn't belong...So what they were doing (those arguing to protect marriage murder) was reaching, for poitical purposes, to drive a wedge. But it is within the rights of a state to define marriage regulate abortion. That's within state's rights."

If sKerry had any kind of smarts or conscience, this is what he would have said.
