President Bush was not in the National Guard(rant),
FReeplancer

He was in the Air National Guard. That means Air Force National Guard. Also, only U.S. Army troops (including U.S. Army National guard and U.S. Army Reserves) are called SOLDIERS, not the Sailers, Marines and Airmen. Why is all the media taking shortcuts and playing so loose in regards to specifically referencing these proper titles? Just like President Bush should be labled PRESIDENT and not Mr. Bush or whatever the liberal shortcut is. Does anyone else have any pet peeves like these? I hate it.

Also, "sailers" is spelled "sailors". Just FYI, not nitpicking or anything.

He did get MARINE capitalized! But the others - sailors, airmen, soldiers, are not, unless they're the first word in a sentence.

Yes. I have a lot to rant about. Like everybody in the media giving kerry a free pass on everything. Like they debate the Rathergate memos and the dem pundit always comes back with something along the lines of..." well, you know bush was a spoiled youth, didnt have any responsibilities....got taken care of....."
But, President Bush wasnt a GIGALO like kerry either. but they never dig into kerry's sorry-ass past....never... like his first wife dumped him penniless, he bummed off of relatives and friends until he met Heinz-kerry. OH. they never mention that kerry went to Swiss boarding schools, either.

Actually, he didn't spell it right. It's J-A-R-H-E-A-D. Greetings from your friendly neighborhood Navy Vet.

".... not the Sailers, Marines and Airmen...."

I disagree. All weapon carrying personnel who are, or have been, in harms way serving our country are soldiers.

Yeah -- just like the "claim" that a SQUID is just a higher form of MARINE life?

I've also heard them simply refer to him as "Bush" and that really does piss me off. I've seen the President correct them before. He'll say something like, "Who are you talking to?" And the newspaper boy will say, "Oh, yea. Uh...Mr. President...."

Since it was a "rant", I get a pass on spelling.

President and Mr. Bush are both acceptable ways to address the commander in chief. What is your basis for saying its not true?

So what's your beef? You sailed didn't you?

Sorry, just some normal Marine versus Navy humor there folks...

I was reading an AP article and couldn't help but notice that every reference to Clinton was "President Clinton", yet every reference to GWB was "Mr. Bush" or just "Bush". Of course, since I keep hearing there is no media bias, I'm sure no malice was intended. That would just be paranoid, right-wing nut kind of thinking, right?
