Interesting theory....make the candidate so damned worthless, dorky, stiff, freakish, and hopeless as possible so the thought of Hillary stepping in induces orgasms in the loony libs....I doubt this will happen but who would have thought CBS would do what they did.
Thank you - thank you! I couldn't have said it better - in all caps, no less.
That is irrelevant.
If she "replaces" Kerry, she does not need to replace him on the ballot.
All that is needed is for Kerry (or his widow, I don't think HRC has made a final decision on THAT) and the DNC to instruct electors chosen on the Democratic line to vote for HRC instead of Kerry.
This is perfectly legal AND (for the first time in HRC's life) Constitutional.
Ballots are being printed in most states. There is no way to get 50 states to "erase" Kerry and put in "Rodman"-Clinton.

Not gonna happen.
Not every state is New Jersey.
Perhaps she could not be legally placed on the ballot, but the electors who are on the ballot would be free to vote for her instead of Kerry.
Withdrawing Kerry would only ensure further chaos in the DNC.
Hillary could have stepped in at any moment right up to the convention, but she has left it far too late to be recruited to save the party.
It's one thing to replace a candidate who dies or becomes seriously incapacitated during the campaign; it's quite another to replace one just because he's proven to be undesirable.
Utter nonsense. Kerry isn't interested in dropping out. He's lived his entire life for this moment.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't the democrats only replace kerry if he's either incapacitated or dead? The filing deadline is long past.
And she doesn't even have to replace Kerry. All she has to do is campaign to vote the Dem party line. She can then, behind the scenes, convince the Dem electors that Kerry is Unfit for Command, so they should vote for her.
Of course, some might vote for Edwards as well, but she wouldn't have to actually lose the election which is her primary fear.
unless they found Kerry lying face down in Ft. Marcy Park, I don't think so.
... or Kerry, et al, take a flight on Ron Brown Airways
If 271 Democrat electors are chosen on 11/2/04, they can vote for HRC if they choose to do so when the electoral college casts its votes.
State laws to the contrary are unconstitutional.
Henchster is a rock solid, long time, FReeper, who has seen FReep combat on a number of occassions. He's a very smart guy; no tinfoil. He doesn't now, and never will, discredit FR. Give him a break, and consider the post in the nature of one of those politcal thriller novels. Remember New Jersey. It could happen.
This posting is sure right about one thing. Hillary could never survive a year long campaign. Private groups (say, 527s) would tear her apart even if the cowardly GOP was too polite to do so.
I've been wondering about that. What keeps the electors for Kerry from just staying on the ballot, then electing Hillary in the Electoral college?
They tried that with Algore. The only thing they've succeed in doing with Kerry is find a way to outdo Algore in terms of worthlessness, dorkiness, freakishness, and hopelessness, but even with Kerry it won't be enough.
That was when they were actually in power. The Clinton years actually helped us by turning the majority of the populus more towards conservatism. This is evidenced by the majority we have in the House, the Senate, and the number of GOP candidates elected in statewide offices over the last 12 years. Don't get your panties in a bunch about Billary, it ain't gonna happen.
Amen to that
