Well, at least someone is picking up the ball and running with it.
This IS the story right here people. Don't let them make you feel sorry for them and accept their apologies.
This is HUGE!

"Bush has never fully accounted for his service during the Vietnam War, when he was given a coveted place in the National Guard while many of his peers were drafted and sent to fight in Vietnam. " Even here, the media cannot give this lie a rest.
This is like ending an article about OJ murdering Nicole with the statement, "Nicole never did answer the question concerning whether she was a "whoring tramp", as OJ claimed."

You are absolutely correct. We must keep up pressure. I started by emailing both the FCC and the FEC requesting independent investigations. The public deserves to know the truth.
Michael.Powell@fcc.gov - chairman of the FCC
oig@fec.gov - office of the investigator general at the FEC
Freep this!!!

Media experts said the affair had deeply damaged the credibility of CBS News, once home to anchor Walter Cronkite -- dubbed "the most trusted man in America." The same Uncle Watler that lied to us about Tet and the Vietnam War??

I saw Lockhart, and he was definitely over-the-top lying, IMHO. He was just too up and bright---protesting too much!
Lockhart didn't seem to act as if there was anything at all unusual about exchanging favors with Mapes.
I suspect Joe had long been apprised of the story and knew of Rather's involvement. Mapes surely would have dropped Dano's name at every door she was trying to open related to this story.

Kat,
There is a simply proof of favoritism here.
Mapes promised to keep source of documents confidential (as long as source had not lied, which he had.)
However, she revealed source to Kerry campaign in form of Joe Lockhart!

Re#18 I saw that. It may just be a ruse to pay Burkett some hu$h money. If not, I hope he's got a good aggressive lawyer...

So, what's the price of the stock for the company that makes Kool-Aid these days?
Should I invest now, or wait another week? ;-)

"It is obviously against CBS News standards and those of every other reputable news organization to be associated with any political agenda," CBS News said in a statement.
IF SeeBS news believes this to be true, then WHY do they continue to employ so many self admitted leftwingnuts!?

I was pretty sure that Mary Mapes would be "resigning" over this; now I am quite sure.
Mapes, when she supplied Lockhart with Burkett's number, acted as a political operative. This is wholly inappropriate. I look for her to submit her resignation within a week.
To: kattracks
"Lockhart said they did not discuss the documents and Burkett used the conversation to offer his advice about how Kerry should run his campaign." Yeah, and pigs fly.

I just chuckle at all the libiots trying to put a positive spin on this....saying things like, "yes, it was bad to air the piece with a forged document, but Dan Rather would NEVER do this intendedly.
To which I say... BULL____!!!!Rather knew EXACTLY what he was doing by going ahead with the story.
His arrogance prohibited him from thinking that we, the little people (PJ People, if you will) would call him on it. I mean, he's gotten away with it so many times before, why would this be different? I guess he didn't take into account some very sharp FReepers!
Well Dan, guess the JOKE is on you this time.
And Kudo to Bernard Goldberg, author of "Bias" for having the guts to out "The Dan", several years ago.

Lockhart looked and sounded like a teenager caught with his hand in the cookie jar when Mom walks in the kitchen.
But we've SEEN and HEARD all of these "excuses" and "inoperative statements" in our last bad experience...with the same "actors" it's a lot easier to see directly through the cow patties they postulate.
