Dan, the last few days have taught everyone in America exactly what kind of reporter you are.

The question now is, can Rather be trusted by CBS, or America, to report about anything?

Forget about the documents for a moment. Is Rather even qualified to tell us about where a hurricane is headed or about airline safety, new medical treatments or the best place to invest money?

This is truly a disturbed man who can not deal with reality.

Bill Kristol said on Fox this morning that Rather's rhetoric sounds like something out of the old Soviet Union. This goes one step further. Captain Dan is living in a world of denial. Agreed, Rather is psychotic and the psychosis is called, liberalism.

Pray tell then for what was he apologizing, in what way was he misled?

Let me see now. If they can't be proved to be authentic it means they are either forgeries or legitimate documents. There is no in between! So if Rather does not think they are forged then by default he personally still believes they are legitimate. He is making a total idiot of himself because he has no other choice except to insist they are real because he must continue to keep the pubic believing that he was duped. Or maybe he is delusional and he really does the documents are legit in which case he needs medication.

I do believe Dan is following this type of logic:

If the forged documents are genuine forged documents, then they are authentic forged documents, as opposed to forged documents that are not truly forged, but fake forged documents.

So, if they are authentic forged documents, the information contained in them must be true, even if it is false.

If he keeps clinging to this loony idea he will be gone in a week. He does not seem to realize that anyone with the technology expertise of a 15 year old knows these are phony documents. As such this is a battle of wills. I am sure that in Dan's mind he feels that he is being attacked for political motives and that he as an independent journalist needs to prove to the world that "political partisan" attacks cannot silence the truth and the press.

He is either fighting for a free press in his mind, or he is incredibly corrupt and believe that with Kerry likely to go down in defeat that any and all corrupt practices he can put forward are woth the effort to keep Bush from being re-elected. In either case he has choosen the wrong hill. He just doesn't know it yet or have accepted it yet. He will likely die a bitter old man, robbed of any respect.
