Tony Coelho admitted on Hardball tonight that the DNC had the memos before CBS but that they didn't use them because they realized that the documents were probably fake.
'He did not come to us, we went to him and asked for the documents.'
Who told CBS/DNC that Burkett had the documents?
I TiVo'ed and watched it again, Surreal.

"but that they didn't use them because they realized that the documents were probably fake."
So, in basing Operation Fortunate Son in part on the release of the memos, we know conclusively one of two things:
1. Tony Coelho is lying, and the Kerry campaign, believing the memos to be true, was coordinating the attack with CBS based on these memos. Very scummy.
2. Tony Coelho is telling the truth, and the Kerry campaign, realizing the memos were likely fakes, was coordinating the attack with CBS based on these memos. Scummy ultra.

The DNC could not air the memos themselves without fear of backlash. Since they had the documents, they couldn't legally coordinate with a 527, like Move On.org. Going to the networks was a sanitary way to get the smear out without the sticky problem of the DNC having their fingerprints on them. Journalists can protect their sources.
But, CBS got sloppy and posted the .pdf files. If they had simply run with the story, they would have never been found out. The WH and the RNC would not raise the question since it would have only led to a broader story than the orginal broadcast. The PajamaHademe would not have had the credentials to challenge CBS to see the originals.
Thanks to someone at CBS for being too smart by half and posting those docs to add "gravitas" to their story.
Could that someone be a Freeper?

I've no doubt the DNC saw the documents before CBS, because I think that is where they were generated. Mrs PD

So in other words, the DNC got CBS to try to pass forgeries so the 'rats could keep their hands clean.

Could they be trying to save senate and house seats? sKerry is expendable, but those senate and house seats aren't.

"Fortunate Son"
FYI, that isn't merely the title from a song from the 1960's, it's the title of a book about Bush II, probably atleast 4 years old.

Could they be trying to save senate and house seats? sKerry is expendable, but those senate and house seats aren't. Could be. The pace of revelations tonight is staggering. It also follows the Lannie Davis model of "get bad news out in front and get it out quickly".
Fineman on MSNBC tonight continued to talk about the most important unanswered question:
Where did the forgeries come from? Who produced them?
If that remains the focus, someone is in deep legal trouble.

To quote John Kerry:
These guys are the most crooked, you know, lying group I've ever seen.
And the media assumed that he was complaining about the President and his team. He was really bragging.
