A DAY (A FEW DAYS) IN THE LIFE OF PRESIDENT BUSH (PHOTOS): 9.18-20.04

Sunday the President met with First Responders in Alabama, in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan, saying, "I want to thank the search and rescue teams from all over the United States who are here, using every possible asset they have to find those who are still missing." He comforted residents during a walking tour of neighborhoods damaged by Hurricane Ivan in Pensacola, Florida.

Today President Bush campaigned in Derry, N.H., before heading to New York City for meetings at the United Nations.

TO ALL DOSERS, ESPECIALLY THOSE FROM CALIFORNIA: I encourage you to read the following e-mail that I received from Howard Kaloogian -- he's promoting a new California-based publication, "The Sacremento Union" (a CONSERVATIVE alternative to the LATimes and all other leftist newspapers nationally)!
http://www.sacunion.com/

Dear Friends,

Recent weeks have shown us once again how miserably biased the old-media information monopoly has become.

The CBS Television Network is facing allegations that they took bogus documents from Democrat political operatives and reported them as fact. The documents defamed President Bush in a desperate attempt by CBS to smear the President.

And this is hardly the first time that Dan Rather and CBS have shown their political bias. When CBS reporter Bernard Goldberg raised concerns about the left-wing bias of the television network he was shunned by CBS executives. So he decided to write the book “Bias” which detailed the network’s advancement of left-wing propaganda.

Today that propaganda continues unabated. News reports on the war on terrorism are almost exclusively unflattering towards our troops and our military leadership. Our armed forces have many proud accomplishments, yet it is rarely reported. Instead, the overwhelming thrust of the coverage is negative, defeatist and critical.

When Move America Forward – an organization I serve as Chairman of – helped to collect $1.8 million in medical aid that was shipped to the people of Iraq, guess how many media outlets in the entire United States picked up the story?

ONE.

That’s right – we sent out press releases to thousands of media outlets alerting them to this positive step being taken in Operation Iraqi Freedom, but only one radio station in the entire nation thought that the public should hear something positive about Operation Iraqi Freedom. No television stations or newspapers reported on the shipment.

We also saw how shamelessly the Los Angeles Times went after then-candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger during his campaign for governor in the recall election with front-page stories attacking him day after day.

It’s quite discouraging to look around and see so much liberal bias in the news media today.

Well I have some great news to report to you – CBS and the old media information monopoly have a new competitor that will offer people a trustworthy source of news, weather, sports, commentary and more!

This new editorial voice in the news publishing industry promises to hold great potential in bringing breaking news, investigative reporting and compelling features – and doing so with a fair and balanced approach.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to introduce to you the new Sacramento Union!

The Sacramento Union. The name should sound familiar. Californians came to respect the Union, which was published from 1851 through 1994. The newspaper was known for it’s smart reporting and it’s fresh editorial voice. Now it will be a daily online newspaper and monthly magazine.

Now, at a time when journalism seems to be overrun with liberal political activists, it’s time for all of us to embrace a new voice, which promises to get the news right and present an alternative editorial voice.

That’s why I urge you to sign up for The Sacramento Union – whether you live in Sacramento, Los Angeles, or even New York, Mississippi or Alaska. We simply must show our support for a news outlet that won’t be part of the “Bash America” journalist crowd.

The all-new Sacramento Union is set to launch in just a few weeks – on October 1, 2004.

If you don’t appreciate just how out of step today’s media is, then consider this: A Roper Center poll released in April 1996, revealed that 89 percent of Washington reporters voted for Clinton in 1992.

Americans have begun to fight back against the leftist slant in the media. Those who were disgusted with the liberal activism of the television news media have embraced the Fox News Channel and helped to make it America’s #1-cable news channel. Now we must embrace the ‘Fox News Channel of the publishing world’ – The Sacramento Union and make sure it thrives and succeeds.

Here’s what you need to do: Place a subscription order RIGHT NOW by ordering online. Simply CLICK HERE to place your order. And if you order 36 issues you’ll receive a savings of 65% off of the newsstand price!

With your subscription you will receive The Sacramento Union magazine via U.S. mail. What’s more, you’ll also receive access to the exclusive news content available at the SacUnion.com website. (You can visit the www.SacUnion.com website right now – but be advised that the complete site with active news content and exclusive content won’t be online until October 1, 2004). This will be an online newspaper you can believe!

A number of legends in the news business have hung their hat at the Sacramento Union. In 1866 Samuel Clemens – better known to many as Mark Twain – was a correspondent for TheSacramento Union. A bronze bust of Twain had been an ever-present fixture in the old offices of The Union in downtown Sacramento.

The Union has covered some of the biggest events in our nation’s history including the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, the start of World War II, Charles Lindbergh's successful flight across the Atlantic, and the Apollo 11 moon launch which took place in 1969.

Now The Union is ready to rise like a Phoenix from the ashes and report on the events shaping a new generation. But, this publication won’t be successful without strong subscriber support.

That’s why they need you to subscribe right away. You can subscribe online at this address: http://www.sacunion.com/subscriptions/ .

And forward this email on to any of your friends who are tired of the liberal news bias in the media.

Thanks for doing your part to help reform the shamelessly liberal news media!

Sincerely Yours,

Howard Kaloogian

P.S. At a time when the liberal press corps have been so inexcusably biased against our troops in their reporting of the war on terrorism, it is so important that the Sacramento Union not only survive – but thrive.

But we need to get a huge number of subscriptions for the Union right away!

Please – SUBSCRIBE NOW

***And in case anyone missed it, "CBS News apologized Monday for a 'mistake in judgment' in its [Dan Rather's 60 Minutes'hit piece on President Bush] story," according to a Yahoo News caption ...***

As Rush pointed out, and I thought this was interesting--what was missing in the statement was Dan Rather's anger, which you would have thought would have been present if he had really been fooled by this person sending these documents . . . the lack of anger at this person led Rush to believe they know who the person is (who gave them the fake documents) and also knew they were fake the whole time.

TAKE HEART:

Dear ,

We did it!

Because of your hard work I am proud to announce that the RNC has met and exceeded our goal of registering 3 million new voters in this cycle!

AS OF TODAY WE HAVE REGISTERED 3,047,073 VOTERS.

Now is not the time to rest. With 46 days left before Election Day we can register more voters and we can continue to spread our Party's message.

President George W. Bush is attracting new voters and has historic levels of support from Republicans around the country. We are expanding our party and building coalitions that will lead us to victory in November.

We've been aggressively reaching out to all voters--Hispanics, African Americans, Asian Americans--Republicans, Democrats and Independents. On Wednesday, for example, I was in Milwaukee for the sixth stop on our African American Economic Empowerment Tour.

We see a particular opportunity with all newly registered voters who may be more interested in a leader with solutions to the challenges we face, than party allegiance. They will be hearing from the RNC and Republican state parties.

We will reach out to them with the President's positive agenda for America. Our Party's action and optimism provides a sharp contrast to the Democrats protest and pessimism.

That's why our Party is growing while their Party is shrinking.

As the Democratic Party becomes smaller, it becomes more liberal, more angry, and more hate-filled. And as the Democratic Party becomes more liberal, more angry, and more hate-filled, it becomes smaller.

Earlier today, during a press conference, I outlined the Kerry Campaign's latest strategic shift to a so-called "character based critique," a euphemism for character assassination. The Kerry Campaign's "character based critique" is based on some of the most dubious characters ever to engage in the American political process, which you can see in detail in this press conference transcript here.

We can expect to see more personal attacks as they continue down this path.

We believe voters will make their decision based on the clear distinction between these candidates. During our convention, President Bush outlined his Agenda for the future of America, which includes strengthening education and job training, creating new opportunity zones in our cities, increasing affordable housing and expanding homeownership, reform of the tax code, strengthening social security, and making health care more affordable.

President Bush's positive vision for a safer world and a more hopeful America are expanding out Party and energizing Republicans, Democrats, and Independents to go to the polls on November 2 and vote for Republicans.

Keep up the great work!

Sincerely,

Ed Gillespie
RNC Chair

Hi Mike--

Got some encouraging words after Kerry's speech this morning? It really depressed me, especially all the cheering. That is, until someone--I think it was a fellow Doser--(Pippin maybe????) who pointed out that anyone dumb enough to attend a Kerry speech was dumb enough to cheer at it . . . I don't know why it got me so down . . . I guess the attack on the President. But what's new?

John Kerry's speech today was a scathing attack on President Bush and I admit, hard to listen to. But John Kerry dug himself a little deeper in the whole by giving it. It was full of contradictions and reversals of previously made statements, so much so that it make "READ MY LIPS" look like a minor slip up.

John Kerry signed the death certificate of his campaign with this speech today. Within an hour the Bush Campaign had already pointed out Kerry's remarks during the Primary debates and if the Bush team does an Ad using the remarks from a year ago to todays remarks, it will be devistating.

The bottom line is John Kerry is in full meltdown mode and his swinging for a last round knockout punch and he's coming up empty, and will not land a single blow on president Bush. This is because President Bush has a commanding lead in the catagory of leadership and who would best protect us in the polls.....

President Bush will not be retiring to Crawford until January 2009
