Carl Cameron was just on Fox saying Maxie confirmed there was contact with Burkett. He also stated said that Kerry was pushing this 60 Minutes piece as a "must see" to his traveling press for several weeks PRIOR to it coming out. Carl Cameron, as we all know, is one of them traveling with Kerry. This confirms with The Hill's article on the DNC producing the Fortunate Son bit with the CBS memos. So, what comes first - Rather's hit piece or the DNC's hit piece.

That doesn't surprise me one bit. I suspected the campaign had been planned over the summer, or maybe even spring. There were rumors that Kerry was mad at McAuliffe for springing the NG trap early, back in Feb itself.
I'd like to know who the architects of the campaign were. It was planned quite cleverly but it was not clever enough. It has a Rovian touch but who's his evil twin on the DNC side?

It looks like Cleland is signaling Kerry's campaign that he will not fall on his sword quietly. Or no? What a tightrope CBS is walking in this to protect Kerry.

IIRC, per other reports, CBS and DNC admitted they had the documents some 6 weeks before the 60 Minutes airing. So, these docs apparently didn't just show up. However, the faxed set from Kinkos apparently were faxed in early September.
That creates a discrepancy in the dates. For CBS/DNC to have had the docs 6 weeks would put the time around early August.
So, did the docs got from 'somewhere' to Burkett who, in turn, faxed them in September?
There are still many unanswered questions.

On September 6, Terry McAuliffe issued a press release detailing "what we don't know" about Bush's Guard years. Another DNC release on the same topic followed on September.
So let's see: Burkett's connected to Michale Moore, to James Moore, to Cleland who admits he gave this to Kerry's Kampaign.
"Misled?" I think not. Complicit is much more apt.

They still pushing the content on Kerry's website? As of last night they still were.
