~ MILITARY SHORT SPEAK ~ |
|
The military seems to have a language of its own, with many terms, acronyms, initialisms and abbreviations that aren't generally used in the "civilian world." What is an acronym? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words. It is spoken as one word. What is an initialism? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words, but each letter is spoken separately. What is an abbreviation? It is a shortened version of a word. What is Short Speak? It is any and all of the above. Want to know what they are talking about? Read on... |

Welcome to the Canteen Brother!

Dear Man Upstairs,
I realize I haven't bothered you in awhile, but I'm in need of answers. So? Promptness is important!!
I'm sure you understand.
Anyhoo, here's my questions:
1) Would you mind if I send tomkow to Egypt? I'm thinking a trip to visit Mummies would do that Burka boy some good. What do you think? Honestly! He would deserve his fate amongst the Mummies. We'll even supply the toilet paper. Ain't that grand of me?
2) Can you explain to me the following: At what level of boredom does it require to be an official on the "NAME THE HURRICANE" committee?
3) You promised me the last time that you were going to fix the little issue about TV commercials. No pressure or anything, but can't you SPEED IT UP A BIT. Honestly, if you can't fix this problem...who can?
4) The Sailor will think of something interesting and fun to do for our anniversary, right? If not, can I exchange him? Hehe (Just kidding)
5) Oh! Do you mind tanning Burka Man's booty? He's always mooning everyone. It's hard to see his booty sometimes. Perhaps a lightning rod to fry his booty would do the trick. What do you think?
6) Joe Thiesmann is really awful. Is there any reason why ESPN still has him around? Honestly, he's working my very last nerve.
7) The Presidential candidates are going on "Dr.Phil". My question is: WHY? He has a weight loss program that is a best seller and I'm thinking he could use his own advice. Maybe that's just me.
I need to go get some shut eye right now. I will continue this later.
Good night!!

It is so little in comparison to those of you who have given of YOUR time and talents to defend our country -- and I mean that. I know you guys always sort of shrug it off, but it means a lot to me.

A heads up to all my FRiends here in the Canteen.... Tomorrow night at 7:00 pm CST on the Disney Channel they are re-running the original Disney flick "Tiger Cruise." It's very well done. Check Disney.com for details, but if you've got kids, it's worth watching. (It does include real footage and emotional responses to 9/11.)

Something tells me, that'll be a familiar refrain.
Along with "baby killer", "mindless robot", "Bush is an idiot", etc. yadayadayada...
