CBS Talks With Suspected Source of Documents Network to Air Interview in Effort to Resolve Dispute Over Bush Guard Memos' Authenticity
By Howard Kurtz

CBS News anchor Dan Rather has interviewed the retired lieutenant colonel widely believed to have helped provide "60 Minutes" with the disputed National Guard documents about President Bush that have created a credibility crisis for the network, and CBS plans to air the interview in the coming days.
The on-camera sit-down with Bill Burkett, who has urged Democratic activists to wage "war" against Republican "dirty tricks," could help resolve whether CBS continues to stand by its story or concedes the purported 30-year-old memos are forgeries, as numerous document experts have contended.
Declining to confirm interview, CBS News President Andrew Heyward reiterated network is "trying very hard" to settle issue. (Lucy Nicholson -- Reuters)......"
I think a few Freepers figured that out a few hours ago. Drudge is getting a bit slow.
Someone is going to interview Dan Rather?
Dig deeper Dan
Quick....somebody post that BLOOM COUNTY strip...
Maybe Drudge will say more on his radio show tonight.

The memos are real, Marty, er, Dan!
The memos came from the Acme Document Company.............kaboom!!!!!
????
That is going to help their credibility.
This must be why Grima Rathertongue is in Texas today.
> CBS to Air Interview With Suspected Source of Bush Guard Memos
Anyhow, the headline makes NO sense.
CBS KNOWS WHO gave CBS the memos.
We don't know who authored them, although many (not
me, yet) suspect Burkett. This sounds like a pre-emptive
whitewash to allow Burkett to deny it (and he may
well not be the author).
Hand waving. Misdirection. See-BS'ing.
The forger? A person who passed the forgery to CBS?
So, CBS is going to do a mea culpa, and hang Burkett out there, and stonewall all further inquiry. A good strategy, given the state of affairs. I think it is reasonable to assume that NO member of the snob media is interested in exposing substantive connection to any operative in the DEM party or Kerry campaign.
What is Rather going to say? That Burkett had to "recreate" the memos that the evil Bush machine had shredded?
yea I actually heard he is going to have him tell which docs are real and which are fakes...woooooo... that's almost sick it is so incredible.
Don't give him any ideas....
They're going to interview Robin Rather? (PLEASE: NO PHOTOS!!)
I guess it's not gonna happen tonight......but I think its a mistake on CBS and Blather's part to keep this contriversy on "High Boil" for another week. How the hell is Kerry going to get his message heard if Blather keeps insisting that it is the content of the forgeries that is important .......
No Joke! She's a beast!
